NickZ Beta Blast. (8 movies added page 32) April 2013

Cool stuff! I like the alien but the “Tron-esque” direction this environment is going is really interesting.

Thanks Arthaven, Here is the latest WIP for the craft that I am calling the Minnow. Can’t wait to see how the new ZB 4R7 changes this modeling process. Looking forward to having lighter geo to get the same shapes.

Cyborganic - Organic and Hardsurface ZBrush Workflow Tutorial Series

I have had this series wrapped up for some time now. I wanted to post them up here for the community. I’m pulling the information from many different areas and different artist. My hope is that the videos help some artist out and open you up to an new way of working.

This is a 30 + video series that will take you from the initial organic modeling session all the way to the final shading and presenting of the work.

Awesome! I have been a fan of your work for years. Thanks for the vids!

Thanks silkori !

Dude, you need to charge for this or at least accept contributions. I remember awhile back you threw out some training for like $10~15 bucks. I grabbed that with out hesitation. Seriously you give way too much. Maybe set up the “Tip this video” on your Vimeo. Get some give back, you deserve it.

many thnx :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

3dnv,

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate you urging me to get back from all of this…and I do for sure. I guess my main motivation isn’t financial. I really feel that I have been blessed way, way, way beyond what I deserve. I love art, I love the artistic process, and I love to try and show what I know to help others improve their craft. I get a huge kick out of receiving word from people saying that I was able to help them out and help them improve as an artist.

I have received a lot from the CG community and I just want to do what I can to give back. I remember starting off in my art career and I was learning how to airbrush, it was so weird, I remember the little company I worked for didn’t want to show people how to use an airbrush because they were so competitive in that space, and I remember being so frustrated as a young artist feeling like there were these gate holders of knowledge and actually didn’t want their peers to progress forward.

I also remember starting off in CG and working night after night after my day job was done to learn Maya. I remember there was one guy out there that I thought was just an awesome CG artist, and me being the noob I would send him e-mails asking how things were done, and he 1. actually responded, 2. was very nice, and 3. actually took the time to answer my questions. That person was Steven Stahlberg (Thanks Steven).

So there are many motivating factors for why I “give things away” but really, I am getting a ton back from the process, I’m lucky enough to do art for a living and help people all at the same time. I really couldn’t ask for much more!

P.S. I did take your advise though and I enabled the tip jar on the videos…we’ll see what happens! Peace-NickZ.

Hey Nick…

‘Steven Stahlberg’ now there is a name that brings back memories. 15 odd years ago while living in Japan and trying to break into the Manga/Anime scene it was Steven’s Pinups of cyber punk girls and style that edged me into 3d graphics and away from pencil/paper. I believe he was using Alias Power Animator at the time. His understanding of human anatomy and corresponding mesh flow and the level of beauty he was able to achieve back then with those primitive tools (at least by today’s standards) is a real testament to his ability. Boy has mad skills. His early work still stands the test of time. A true master. Good on you that you had the nerve to contact him, me I just drooled over his work, inspiration at it’s best tho.

In any event I hit you up on your Vimeo / Tip jar: I believe it was the first video in this series # 31. Just a small token of respect and appreciation. I know you don’t do what you do and give as much as you do for the love of loot. I’ve also followed your work here on the forum for some time and been inspired by it and gleaned what I could from time to time. So after a great many years of tutelage I feel obliged. Thank you

Regards

Thanks again 3dnv! My first tip! Awesome!

Well, I think I am all wrapped up on this hard surface ship model. I don’t think it will play a huge role in my UE4 level, so I think the detail is enough. I’m going to be pushing this over to Substance Designer and trying a Physically Based Material and Texture set up.

Hope you enjoy the model!

Cool stuff, man! Thank you for tutorials!

Thank you nickz, good tutorial series!

Thanks guys for the kind words.

I thought I would revisit an older project

https://vimeo.com/68884207

and see if I could push it forward a bit. Here is the results, render passes in ZBrush and then comped in Photoshop.

Hope you enjoy!

Love the colours and the expression… pricesless-

Thanks Dragon!

Here are some new ZBrush renders of my Cyborganic Project.
