Well, here’s where I got with the body and suit so far. I’m likeing it better, but it still needs a lot more work. I’m having fun doing it, so that’s better than before…LOL…
If anyone has any ideas they wanna see in the suit, just post 'em. Also feel free to givie him a critique…As it’s still a work very much in progress, maybe I’ll use your ideas…
If he comes out well, I’ll post his z-Spheres. Also if anyone has any idea on how to pose him without losing the sculpt, I’d LOVE that info.
Thanks,
Dickie

If you Know Major Matt Mason You know what Im thinking as far as the suit goes( joints, joints joints!) ,if Not …well… Great job!
Hahaha love the suit! He kinda looks like that Kazoo guy or whatever his name was from Flinstones cartoons only much cooler!!
He needs a little more smoke inside the helmet unless he has some kind of super smoke sucker thing in the suit and if thats the case then the smoke needs to drift down!
Store the zsphere model as a morph target before moving.
Frechy: Glad ya like him…
Patton: My first sculpt of this guy had pointy rings around all his joints. I think I’m going to head back in that direction…And Major Matt Mason? I had one of those back in '72! You’re dating yourself my friend…
Aminuts:I’m going to put a tank on his back with a crennelated hose leading up to the helmet. As for Morph targets, I tried that and he still goes smooth if
I move a Z-Sphere too far… I love Z-Brush, but it drives me crazy sometimes…

That little Guy TOTALY Rocks!
Nice work! I love it!small_orange_diamond
Oh Well!!!
Thanks for the Props, Polaris… And as for dating ourselves with our references, I’ll be 43 next Saturday,Patton, so I certainly ain’t no spring chicken…
Now here is the body mostly done. Still gotta get some definition in the fingers. Do that tomorrow, I think, if I ain’t too tired after work…
Anyway, hopes ya likes it…
Dickie
Heh!
I got an idea… in the Bubble on the head, add reflection of George bush makeing an obsceen gesture… have that as the reason he look so mad :)small_orange_diamond
Polaris: You know I can’t do that, as he’s come to conquer earth and hates us all equally…
Here is Finster’s Ray Gun. It only took a half hour, which is quite a nice time from design to execution. Z-Brush still astounds me sometimes…It’s Z-Sphere’s coverted to a polymesh 3-D…I’ll finish it later tonight and add it to the image. Think I’m gonna redo his shoulders into a ring design. They look like a Japanese robot now…Not that there is anything wrong with that…

Nice work as always Dickie. The third picture in this thread looks excellent.
For posing the zsphere model you need to store a morph target of the zsphere model, not the preview. Check page 4 of Modeling 3D Objects > Adaptive Skinning and the Zsphere Mesh Continuity tutorial script, also in that section.

I love this guy, great style.
The new guy is sweet.
Sean Mills says hi…
Meats
Oh man Dickie, you are one ancient dude.
Love that raygun, did he steal it from Ming?
Can’t wait to see next incarnation.
Sorry I wasn’t more clear on the mt…yeah store it while in zsphere mode not preview but of course it’s always better to not make such dramatic moves…at least til next Z version…man I can’t wait for that.
the Raygun really is great. Reminds me of the logo of an old renderer for max. I think it`s name was Raygun, too.
And the head and the expression is really great. But i am not quite sure if the Suite-Design fits to your head-style…I think your head is near photoreal and the suite is more cartoon-like. The Head is cartoon, too, but not so much cartoon as the suite…Hope you know, what i mean…
well…Great work
Regards,
Thomas
Funy gun, it looks like an domestic appliance my mother always used long time ago (In the kitchen )
I hope you did not think I was saying that you were dated!! I was dating My self. I had many Major Matt Mason toys!
TVeyes: Thank you for the clarification on posing a Z-Sphere model. I was indeed storing the preview. And thank you for the props…
Meats: I’m glad you like Finster so far. I’m having a ball making him. I always wanted to do something in this style, but design is NOT one of my stronger points. And as for Mills, give him a great big hello back! I miss that crazy bugger…
Aminuts: Kids these days…;)I earned my grey hairs, my friend… Yeah, I find that even with the Z-Spheres stored, The model goes smooth if I move it too much. Glad ya like the gun. It came out exactly like I wanted it to, so I guess I’m getting better in Z-Brush…
Thomaskl: Actually you are correct. The suit and head are of different styles, but I still like the FEEL of it. I’m thinking of going back to my original design of a leather Biker’s jacket/50’s space suit. If I pull it off, I’ll post it, if not, well, I’ll just be modifying this one a bit. Thank you very much for the input, I appreciate it…
Bas Mazur: I was going for a Warner Bros kind of look for the gun and if it brought back memories of an old kitchen appliance, then I’m on the right track…
Patton: I was joking, my friend. Us oldsters have to stick together or the youngsters will ride us outta town on a rail…
Just loving this little guy, Dickie… superb design, modelling and texturing;
maybe a few more ‘folds’ and variation in the texturing of the clothing would help match up with the head - just a thought…
age? paah! I’ve got three years on you, mate, and still as fresh as a daisy:lol:
The gun, BTW, reminds me a little of one I did in an illustration a few years back (bottom right image):
http://www.custom3d.co.uk/2d_files/black_ants.html
maybe my influences were 50’s/60’s-ish too?!
Great stuff, and following you’re thread with glee
Atwooki
Grood caricature! It is frustrating though that you cannot pose him in other poses (the pose of the arms is a bit stiff). Also, I like the rendering. Any post work in photoshop? In all, a great little character.
THE JETSTONES!!! The gun reminds me to this cartoon!
