Newbie Question

I am trying to sculpt a hollowed out stump. It’s basically a cylinder with a hole in the middle.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to manipulate an entire side of the cylinder at once.

Is there any way to interactively manipulate a mesh all the way through from the camera to the far side? So if I am looking top down on my stop and I grab one of the edges it moves the ENTIRE side of the stump and not just part of the side near the top?

One approach would be to mask the parts that you don’t want moved, then use a deformation or even the edit brush with a very large draw size.
