newbie question / does brush wrap mode still exist?

In the docs I search for wrap mode and get a reference to a tutorial in ZBrush 3. I see in the noise maker plugin how to make tiles like bricks and stuff but in one of Nick Z’s tutorials on his blog he is drawing freehand making repeat patterns. The tutorial however is a V3 tutorial and the wrap mode controls he refers to as being in the Brush area don’t seem to exist any more. at least not at that location.
Does this function still exist? has it been moved?

Thank you,

It’s in the Brush > Curve submenu.

Thank you Zber2
:o

Moving on with Nick’s brick tutorial using wrap mode. On a new layer I use wrap mode to create a brick pattern. Next in the tutorial Nick starts roughing up the edges of the brick outlines. when I try to do this I get a message saying: Mesh has deformation shape layers. turn off ZAdd/ZSub draw modes or activate layer recording mode and try again. In the layer drop down menu I do find another wrap mode control but nothing about recording mode. Also, when I turn off ZAdd/ZSub and try to sculpt nothing happens, which is what I would expect but don’t know what should be happening.

Thank you

You probably have a Layer active in Tool > Layers subpalette which is 3D Layers. Turn on Record mode on that layer. That’s what it means when it says in that message “or activate layer recording mode”. Click on the dot next to the eye icon to turn it on.

You have two types of Layers in ZBrush, 2.5D and 3D layers. The Wrap Mode in the ‘Layer’ menu you are referring to is for 2.5D Layers which makes a seamless texture of the canvas. Holding down Tilde key and click and drag on the canvas does the same thing. It’s not related to ‘WrapMode’ in Brush > Curve.

Again, thank you.

And yes, in the tutorial a layer is created for masking the grout in the brick pattern.

I am getting the feel of 2.5 vs. 3d layers but I didn’t know about the dot.
