Newbie problem-

I just started to learn ZBrush, and I have run into problems with the mesh becoming corrupted and eventually crashing ZBrush. I have made adjustments to ZBrush using “ZBrush 2 Performance Tips – Getting the Most from Your System” and "***** ZBrush 2 Practical Guide ***** ", but nothing has stopped the error from occuring. Before you send me any advice here’s what I have already done.

  • Exported the model back into Maya as an OBJ file, and attempted to cleanup and quadrangulate, then reimported it back.
  • Used Smart ReSym on the all subdivision level
  • Disabled and Enabled various settings under Performance, Mem in the Preferences tab, and even the Render tab.
At this point the model is only at 30,000 polys at subd level 2, so I know it ain’t that. I’ve been saving every few steps just to get this far, and it’s killing my effeciency. I’ve been getting so discouraged that I’m wasting time trying to learn the program.

The problem may have cleared up though. I tried to cause Zbrush to crash again while modeling a second ago, and so far it hasn’t crashed. It’s might in a little bit so please send your advice. Thanks in advance.
