Newb: Erase stray texture pixels

Hello All, new to ZBrush, first post!

I’ve made a head model and used Projection Master to paint the mouth
and teeth. All goes well.

After returning to edit mode I notice that “somehow” a small blob
of white toy plastic ended up on the cheek on the model’s face.

How can I simple go back to Project Master and erase those few
pixels from the texture? This is driving me batty.

Many thanks.
Chris

Do you have other materials embedded in the texture, or is it just that one? If it’s just that one, then all you need to do is export the texture and import it again. The material information will be lost.

Thanks, but I had painted with several materials at the time.
I ended up just starting over.

There’s no way to simply erase areas of a texture once they’ve
been painted onto a model? I can see this being a problem if so.

All I was trying to do was:

  1. load a head model
  2. apply a base “skin” material to the whole thing
  3. paint some details here and there, like teeth etc.
  4. clean up the texture in spots that where unwanted.

In this case, what you could have done is drop the model in Projection Master with JUST the Material option active and then paint over the spot of Toy Plastic with the Basic Material instead. (Draw>M to paint just material, with Zadd turned off.)

When you pick the model up, the embedded Toy Plastic material would be replaced with the Basic Material.

Ok, I played with that and it still “adds” to the texture data
and if I later change the whole model’s base material you can see
where touch up was done with the previous material.

Aside from that it didn’t remove the rbg colored areas that I wanted gone.

So, there’s no way to simply erase data once it’s painted into a texture?

I appreciate the help btw.

Maybe some pics will explain better ?

  1. Model loaded with sample area exposed.
  2. Inside PM, I painted a few strokes with red plastic.
  3. After exiting PM.
  4. Re-entered PM to touch up this section.

Now for example, I want to erase some of the red under the lip area.

  1. After painting with just material “M” as you suggested. Not working.

  2. In side PM, I used the smudge tool which it “almost” what I’m trying to do.

  3. After exiting PM. The smudged area REAPPEARS in the texture.

I don’t know what I could be doing wrong? It all seems easy enough.

What material are you painting on? Is it the same material as the base model? If not, then you’ll still get a difference. Also, what were your Projection Master settings? It almost look like Shaded was turned on.

Another way that you can replace a particular model on your texture is to replace that material within the Material palette. For example, if you are using the Basic Material as your base and you’ve painted Toy Plastic, you can copy the Basic Material into the Toy Plastic slot and overwrite it. This will replace it on the model as well.

PM shading was off and the base material was basic, the one ZBrush
uses right after initializing.

Section 6 is what I’d like to do, but erase the red, not smudge it off.
Which I could have dealt with if not for it looking like Section 7 when
I was done.

Section 5 is half way there. I could see the toy plastic was being
remove but the red was not.

Ok, I finally got it!

What I needed to do was…

While in PM use the picker to get the base material AND it’s color.
Then by repainting with MRGB it restored a given area.

Thanks for the assistance.
