New ZBrush-Version

About a year ago, I bought Zbrush 4.6.

I decided to by this program for my hobby because of the many free updates before, which often came after 6 month or earlier.
Now I’m working with zbrush about a year, having found a couple of problems and bugs, for example the spiral problem of ZRemesher. The last update is now more then 1 year ago and I wonder, where the next update is. I’m still waiting for release 4R7 or release 5.0. I’m a really disappointed because there is no more update with bugfixes or improvements.

Does any of you know something about a new release?

Your guess is as good as anyone elses. Pixologic keep a close lid on update info, they just release updates whenever they are ready and to no particular timetable as far as I know.

Hang in there. They have released more for version 4 then they have for any other version. I purchased Zbrush back when it was at 3.1. It has grown into a glorious beast of a modeler since then. I have a feeling the next update we will see will be a version 5.

That being said, did you update to 4R6P2? that is the latest update. I don’t remember when that patch happened. I believe it was less than a year ago though. I’m sure Zber Pixolator will post here in a bit to correct my statement. :wink:

Hopefully there’s no more v4 releases. :smiley:

Meaning I’m hoping the next one is Zbrush 5. Even if it takes a little bit longer to release I’d rather see effort into the next generation instead of 4. I have not missed updates for a while. Zbrush’s current toolset is very nice and keeping me busy. Granted there are still some things that need polishing but I’ve been putting Zbrush more and more into my pipeline. It’s been great.

Pipeline… I wish i could afford a pipeline. Anyone know of a easy to use animation program for under 100$ USD? I don’t need many bells and whistles, I just want to be able to import rigged characters from Zbrush and to have some kind of a physics system.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Blender = $0

I said easy to use. lol. One that is headache free. Really, I’m happy to pay out money for a supported software. I just don’t have much to spend. Given a choice wouldyou use Blender for all of your animation work?

blender. you must know that already but just in case.

@GridLost

i see from another thread you are familiar with blender. perhaps this can help, i think it’s like 20 bucks.
http://blog.machinimatrix.org/avastar/ it’s a blender addon called Avastar, geared toward secondlife/opensim but you can rig anything.
it’s blender but configured for character rigging. lot of tutorials and guides.

this is from their site:

What is Avastar ? Avastar is a Blender Addon for Second Life Mesh Creators and Animators. We have created various functions to make the creation of content as easy as possible. Avastar supports the entire production chain starting from Modelling, rigging, weighting, up to single character and multi character animations.

How does it compare to pure Blender ? We are often asked what Avastar has that Blender does not already provide. The highlights below tell briefly how Avastar competes to other tools. If you are interested in a detailed comparison, then please read the Comparison to the Avatar Workbench.

@Grid.

Blender is easy to use. Hell, some of the features in blender out shine the autodesk products out there.
But to answer your question, no. I wouldn’t use Blender to animate, I would use maya or motion builder. But…those are $4k a pop.

So, for the money, I’d say Blender is stupid easy to use. Has all the same functionality of every other major software package out there. Similar learning curve as well. Becoming really proficient in Maya, max, modo, etc is going to take time. Granted, once you’ve learned one they are all basically the same, they just name the buttons different.

Eh. Basically, you’re probably not going to get anything all that great at <$100, so you might as well save the dough and use blender. If I were in your position that is the route I would go.
