New Works

Glenn, when you get done with this one please print it up and send a copy to me! This is a true work of art!

Hi Glenn,

Truly a noble beast! Was it the Hartford Insurance company that used the stag as it’s identity? I love the background as well!

Cheers, David

Hey Glenn whats up,

Thanks mate really appreciate it. Totally love the last one aswell.
Great color harmony and the whole concept of the picture is great.
You fooled it pretty good with the fibermesh:)^^
Great work can’t wait to see more.

Best regards,
Kenny

VoodooDad…Thanks Man  I might actually print this one…If it comes out alright, i’ll show it to you…I want to give it to my grandson, to hang in his room, a big poster size print.
I also want to see how the FiberMesh looks when printed…Sometimes this digital stuff can get wonky when printed…we’ll see how it goes…

David Thanks Man :)…LOL…I though that insurance company had a pissed off King Kong with an iron clad fist cluching the claimees money as their logo…I could be wrong though…:D:laughing:

Kenny…Thanks Man :)…Glad you are enjoying the ride…:)…So am I

Thanks for the feedback guys…Always appreciated and Welcomed.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Worked on the forground a little today…FiberMesh.

hi glenn, I love where youre going with this, I do think you are loosing something with the ground being as light as it is, with the darkness of the previous pieces, your focus goes to your lovely animal, you also loose importance of the fur, as the grass isn’t up to par quality wise. But I like youre idea a lot. :+1:

Hi Glenn,

I took a quick look earlier and my gut feeling was the same as framedworld … too much information in the foreground I really think image # 1811 is by far the most powerful and mysterious! For what it’s worth. cheers, David

i was going to say the same, glenn. the picture witout the fur shows that area very dark, and it makes the focus well. i would suggest to darken it agan, but leave the fur… i love the feeling of the piece. a proud animal, and a tad sad. very evocative. and, i like the colorscheme of the first of the two in your post better, to me it supports the feeliings better. very nice work indeed.

Hi FramedWorld…:)…Hey Thank You for the very contructive view of this piece and positive suggestions for it’s improvement…Much appreciated my friend…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Hi David…I like that one in post frame # 1811 the best of that last batch that I posted too, and for the same reasons that you stated…Great eye you have there David.:):+1:I just grabbed that critter out of my files so I could experiment with the FiberMesh, and now look what i’ve gotten myself into :D…Another fine mess you’ve gotten yourself into Glenn…Kicks self in the a… LOL

Kokoro…Thank You Lady. I have more or less two versions in mind at present for this piece…My wife Jessica likes the muted color softer pastel look, and I usually end up going for the intense bold saturated colors look…depending on the subject and intent of the piece of course…Decisions Decisions…LOL…I think I will go look at some Claud Lorrain paintings…I can always draw Inspiration from viewing his works. :)…Anyway…just wanted to thank you for your vist, and your insight into colors and the moods that they can project…Yours is the kind of opinion that keeps me from losing sight of my initial intent…Thank You. :+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Thanks for all of the very valuble suggestions and feedback Guys and Lady…Very much appreciared and always welcomed.

Hi Glenn,

I like the earlier versions much more … too confined, perhaps too static for me. The others show the power and grandeur of the animal. IMHO Cheers, David

Hi David :)…I agree.:+1:…Basically just some crazy color experiments…Lots of fun in layers…never know what to expect when overlapping different versions.

Made a rock base for this guy …something to grow some FiberMesh plants on, which I will do next.:D.Had fun doing a quick little painting this morning also.

Great work on the cliff mate ! Did you texture it with spotlight or zapplink?
Please dont tell me this is purepolypaint, I would of gone nuts ^^
Looking forward to the end result Glenn!
Cheers mate,
Kenny:)

Good Job Artist, I like your style.

FEB. 09, 2012

Hi Kenny :)…Please don’t go nuts…LOL:D…Because …Yes it is all polypainted and textured using A couple of the standard default textures in the texture pallette that come with ZBRUSH…even polypainted the FiberMesh plant some too…No Spotlight used…:D…It’s just easier using those default textures and polypaint sometimes on rocks than it is to go into Spotlight and doing it there…There are alot more and probably better textures in the ZBRUSH Texture library to choose from, but those default ones in the texture pallette do the trick for making the kind of granite rock that I’m after, and it’s a quick method…only about 10 min to both texture, and polypaint for that rock…Just use the Drag Rectangle brush with a soft edged circle alpha…set the brush draw size big to cover the bigger areas, and smaller to get into those tighter areas…and ZBRUSH can’t be beat for it’s ability in polypainting to cover large surface areas with fine gradations of color blends using that Drag rectangle brush…Not even Corel Painter has that ability to get that fine transparent tinted color glazing effect, at least not to my knowlage anyway…

ajkjk…Hey …Thank You :)…I really Admire your Skills and work by the way…Outstanding…and Very Inspiring.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Thanks for the vist and feedback guys…Always welcomed, useful, and very much Appreciated.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

:+1: Glenn.
Very nice.

A tip? On painted rocks, use mask by density, invert the mask and stroke with a brush (hold alt).
The first of the last two is my favorite.

FEB. 09, 2012

Thanks … Michalis :)…I’ll try that out shortly on this rock study… for sure.:)…Really appreciate the help and really valuble tips that you’ve given me along the way my friend…Thank You:):+1:
