New Works

Post 1606, the second one.
I like this a lot!

Hi Glenn,

I was going to say the same thing as frameworld, you got the reference shot! Cheers, David

Hey.:D…Thanks alot guys.

FramedWorld…Looking forward to that chat…No rush though,.I know how the holidays and work on top of that can be…Luckily i’m out of that loop…:D…Hey…Congrats on that illustration of yours by the way…Well deserved…It came out GREAT man…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Michalis…Glad you enjoy that one.:)…I’ll probably end up cluttering the scene up with everything that comes to mind as I have a habbit of doing sometimes…but hey,…gyms are cluttered…yes…LOL :D…Besides,…It’s all just good fun, and good practice…plus pushing the envelope keeps me interested by always creating problems that need to be solved…

David…Funny,…That photo of the gloves on the bed that you posted in here a couple of pages back came to mind as soon as I read what FramedWorld wrote about doing a piece with gloves…I think that photo captured a great feeling in an uncomplicated visual statement…I will for sure keep that mood in mind when I do a piece on gloves…
Thanks Again guys…Much appreciated…:+1:
Glenn

You are making a very well done exposition or maybe thesis on boxing that needs to be possibly printed into a soft cover magazine book…At 1st I wasn’t to impressed with the subject : But you have really brought it to Life for me…Thankyou and
looking forward to more on this subject…Deke aka Blue

Hi Deke :)…Hey…Really glad to hear that I brought boxing back to like for you…:)…Maybe in these times, the world is just plane missing a true Champion…Myself,I haven’t seen one since Mohammad Ali …He united people from all around the world in causes that were greater than himself, and did it by doing it in the ring and out of the ring also, with his stance against the war in Vietnam and all war in general…Before him, there was Joe Louis who in defeating Max Schmeling from Germany, showed the world that Hitler was wrong in his belief that he had created a super race of humans…and before Joe Louis there was Jim Braddock who in the time of the Great 1930’s depression gave a feeling of hope to the average working class people who were in dire straits at the time that hey, a lost cause can still become champion, and can do it in spite of dispair…Boxing had a powerful symbolic purpose and strenght which united and gave strenght to the working class underdog…something which is lacking in these current times unfortunitly…But hey,…who knows what lies ahead,…maybe a New Champion will emerge from the shadows when the world once again becomes truely in need of one…who knows…It’s a one in a million longshot…which always has been the case when it comes to boxing…and true Champions of the People.

About the book that you mentioned…Only the shadow knows…
Take Care Deke, and I really appreciate the visit, kind words and thoughts…Keep Inspired and Inspiring…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Some more fun with this boxers gym this morning.
Thinking about putting a pair of boxing gloves laying on a chair with a towel draped over the back of the chair…up close in the forground, in the right hand corner of the scene…will add more depth and mood to the scene I think…Like a little stillife to offset the action…might be interesting if done right…maybe…

Hi Glenn, this is really coming along well! I think it could be more interesting with a trainer holding the bag than another fighter. IMHO

Have a look at this shot of George Foreman and trainer Dick Sadler.

Cheers, David

Hey Thank You for posting that photo David…You are right, and that’s just the shot that I was thinking of, but from a different angle for my piece…Goerge Foreman the heavy bag destroyer…Yes…:D…I have a good documentary called When We Were Kings…It’s about the fight between Mohammad Ali and Goerge Foreman in Zaire Africa…The Rumble in the Jungle…It tells about how Ali would walk past Foreman in the gym and never look at him while he was hitting the heavy bag…Can’t say I would blame him for not looking…LOL…Scary to think about the fact that he would be doing the same thing to your body as he was doing to that bag. :D…Great shot of his trainer in that photo…just what I needed…Thanks Again David.:):+1:

I was hpoing you could use some more inspirational images…

Just wondering where you found that photo of the guy in the gym with the walls full of boxing posters, I like it a lot!

Cheers,
David

Thanks Guys…

Deke…Hey,…Those are Great Inspirations for sure, and will for sure come in handy somewhere along the line as I explore the possibilities for these boxing scenarios that have captured me so to speak…:D…Really like those two ones of the Joe Louis verus Max Schmelling fights…Schmelling figured out the weakness that Joe Louis had before the first fight that they had…Louis would always drop his guard before he threw a punch, which would allow Schmelling a clear right hand knockout shot at Louis…which cost Louis the first fight between the two of them…After that and before their next title fight,…Louis learned not to drop his guard before throwing a punch,…and that was all she wrote for Max Schmelling… as Joe Louis won the World Chamionship Title…Putting a huge thumb in the eye of Hitler so to speak, and in the process giving the rest of the world that was fighting against Hitler…a symbolic ray of hope that Hitler and his millitary machine could be defeated…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Thank You for the Inspiration Deke…Much Appreciated…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

BOXING TRAINER 2.jpg

The trainer looks great already. I was waiting for some kind of a self portrait. Why not? The Rembrandt (but not only) way, always a self portrait in these huge scenes.
Here, a warm happy new and creative year Glenn !

Hi Glenn,

The trainer is taking shape quite nicely! Keep it up … you need to find some need for hair in this tableau. Perhaps Don King would be perfect!

A self portrait…Now there’s a thought:)…Haven’t done one of those in a few years…Will have to break out the grey paint and wrinkle brush…LOL
Take Care Michalis and Many Thanks for your help and support along the way…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Glenn

David…LOL…The electrified look…might just give the piece the charge of energy it needs…:D:D:D

Michalis just wants to know what you look like so he can turn you into a roman god sculpt…hehe…
Actually that would be quite a compliment…I’d volunteer ( ah vanity is thy name and pride is my shame )

good pose and great lighting on your trainer @SpiritDreamer

Oh yeah its now 1:45 am on 1-1-2012 Happy new year to all of us !
