Thanks everybody, very appreciated
poda - yeah as far as I know there is no easy way to do rig based animations, but I haven’t really tried it yet. there must be some way though if I recall correctly.

Thanks a lot Digitalmind. You got yourself some very good game character work there. for some reason your grim reaper reminds of a character I did a long long time ago for manhunt.
you can find him here(second row from top) among some other Manhunt2 characters I did http://www.juliankenning.com/gameart02.htm
that was prior to any next gen stuff, super low poly and low res, but a lot of fun. if I had some time I’d actually redo one in high poly 2010 style
Great work Julian.
I was on your website… even I get goose bumps… sometimes. Great works Julian small_orange_diamond

@casual deamon, great work and render.
I love the style and feel to all your work and the redners are very nice, top row thread in my opinion. Inspirational
Thank you Tincow. Glad you find it inspirational. what more can I wish for ?
loving these last two, (as well as all the other great works in your thread!)
This last one wants to be part of a tribe, surely, I mean he’s saying that to me… isn’t he saying that to you…listen, you can hear him say it…
he can’t hunt that gigantic insect on his own, now can he, Julian, i mean…
…and how else will he gain the tribal headress and breed with the largest, palest females of his cave-clan if he doesn’t kill the gigantic insect…???
i mean no one goes to the surface, it’s a frozen wasteland, so they have to fight it, right? And what will they eat if they don’t!!! These cave-people are hungry Julian, for the love of all that’s holy, build his tribe man!!!
…oh, so it’s that just me hearing that, then? …yikes… this flu is worse than I thought
Great work as always, dude

Nice work dude . . . spooky!!
Nice work Julian, what material are you using? I love the waxy feel of it, keep it up!!! cheers
RawSunlight - you’re sure you’re taking the right anti flu pills?
seriously though, you are certainly right , he must belong to a tribe.
he refuses to tell me which tribe that is though. I’m afraid I’ll have to torture him for more background information
sgrell - thanks a lot. love your work. especially the Russian Painting, Lolly Girl and the Ladyreaper.
Mutte - It’s a Tri-shader I "made2 and use for both sculpting and rendering.
I hardly ever use matcaps, because as pretty as they are, they allow for no flexible on the fly lighting.
the waxy effect comes from saturating a separate sss pass in photoshop.
you can also achieve that by toning the colors in the ss shader down to shades of white and grey with just a little hint of color.
so in a nutshell it’s just desaturated BPR sss.
going any further with the “Bosch” creature?
Hey Julian,
Again, these latest two characters are beautifully done; great sculpting and the presentation with that material is very cool (gotta’ agree with Maarten on the wax-like effect ). Needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing some of the works you will be doing on the game project, even if you won’t be able to show/post until 2012, I appreciate you taking the time to share
thanks a lot Gert. very pleased you like it.
I’ve got something more to come up later which you might dig, including a shader to share
Very nice mate, love the look and feel to the shader.
