new UVs after modelling?

Hi
is it possible to create a new UVlayout AFTER I did all the modeling in Zbrush? For example: I created a human body with Zspheres, painted in all the details till level7 and after that I decided to create a new UVlayout in MAX.
For MAX I would prefer a lowpolyobject, so exported level1.
But how to use the new layout of the lowpolyobject for the original without loosing all the detail of level7?

Thanks in advance
Hilmar

In ZBrush load your original model, go to the lowest subd and then import your low res model with the new UV layout. This will replace the existing lowest subd and change to the new UV layout. Ensure you didn’t make any other changes in MAX that affected the vertex order though.

Hi Richard
Thanks again for your help.
I tried your workflow as an example with the demosoldier. It works with subtools too. So the body was active and activated aUVtiles. Exported on the lowest subdevision as an obj and imported in Max. Put a simple UVmap on the body, collapsed the stack and saved it as an obj. Nothing more. In Zbrush still with the body selected, imported the altered body… and it seemed to work… till I switched to the higher subdivLevel. This is what I got:

Any Idea? THANKS A LOT!

I think if you search on the forums there have been some threads recently about the workflow to and from Max to prevent this exploding mesh problem.

Richard

Try storing A morph Target in your highest sub division level go down to your lowest or what ever sub div you exported to unwrap. Import the Unwrapped mesh take your subdivision back to your highest and in the Morph Target tab if you stored one press the switch button.

good luck

Do as you did in your first post but before exporting from Max apply a Reset XForm.

dosn´t work both :frowning:
Looks better, but still not ok.

I hope to find the answer in one of the max2Zbrush tutorials.
Thanks for your help.

found a way to go: use Zbrush3.5
This will work, but without all the old plugins, it is not the best way to go.
Will search for another way.
