New User Needing Advice

Hey, I’m new to this forum and new to ZBrush. I’ve just started to mess around with it, but as of now I’m only using a mouse. I figured that if I want to make smoother curves or etc. I’m gonna need a tablet or something. I’ve kinda looked around and people have mentioned a wacom. I checked some of them out but man are they expensive. I’m a noob at this and I don’t really need the best equipment, I just need a tablet that can get me by and will decent. What would you suggest is the best for the lowest price?

Be sure and do A LOT of research on off brands before purchasing. Professionals recommend Wacom for very good reasons, as do I. As much as I’ve recommended them on digital art forums, they should hire me. The research I’ve done on off brands is far from promising. Surely that will change eventually, but right now cheaper brands are faulty in one way or another.

For now, with your mouse, learn to use the lazy mouse function of zbrush. “L” is the hot key. It will allow for smoother strokes and more precision with a mouse.

…and have fun with one bad@$$ program!..

The Wacom Bamboo tablets aren’t so expensive. I’ve not used a Bamboo but I used to use it’s predecessor the Graphire and that was a good tablet so I’m sure a Bamboo would serve you well. There don’t seem to be any other good producors of tablets out there.

Yeah I’ve looked at the Bamboo Fun, the small one is only $100 which is cheap compared to all the rest. I’m leaning towards it unless anyone has other suggest or has had bad experiences with it.
