New to zbrush so have a few questions

Hi as topic states I’m new to zbrush have played with maya so was wondering a couple of things
1: I see some tutorials on here and the net I see digital tutors seems to have the most lessons so was wondering if it is worth going there or is another company beter?
2: What sort of things is it best to start sculpting as an out right begginer I understand that a full highly detailed creaure/person is way off
3: I have a wacom intuos4 I have got the Wacom-up-down to do the 4 sliders on touch ring and wonder what shortcuts would be best set to the expresskeys so I can sit back with tablet on my lap and go with the flow, I understand this is subjective but a rough idea is better then no idea

Thanks in advance

www.youtube.com/user/cannedmushrooms#g/p freemium tutorials thanks to cannedmushrooms.

Hi Greenback,

Take a look at the list of free resources listed in aurick’s profile.

By the time you’ve finished going through those and the cannedmushrooms resources that jawa 64 mentioned you may not have to spend money on trying to understand the use of the program.

As far as what to sculpt as a beginner I suggest sculpting what appeals to you. It sounds a bit like charecters/creatures might be your eventual goal. Many here recomend to start with learning anatomy before you develop bad habits. Many also recoment trying to get good at body parts individually before tackeling and entire charecter. Try sculpting an arm, bust, hand, foot, ear, face etc 1st.

Scott Spencer and Ryan Kingslien have released books regarding charecter sculpting and anatomy specific to Zbrush.

Here’s a YouTube about Kingslien’s book.

Good luck and have fun.

thanks jawa64 and EZRA52 for your quick response the cannedmushroom tutorials are exactly what I was looking for getting started and understanding the tools and workflow of zbrush and best of all they are for zbrush4 unlike alot of the DT ones always helps to be working on the same versions, also like the idea of making my own menu and hot key that into tablet
The books will be very useful once I get my head around using zbrush instead of moving vertex in maya
Now just got to get my son to understand the pc is not only for him to go on cbbc and milkshake sites

thank again
