New to Zbrush , Hello everyone!

So I just got maya , 3D max and Zbrush and I’m in a special course in highschool getting my artwork skill’s to the next level, Cause I can draw and I use flash professionally. I’m in grade 11 and I love games , and I want to be a game designer. But I dont know how the industry really works , do they use zbrush? It seems to be an excellent program and I’m having problems finding a tutorial to show me how to use zbrush too its full cap. I just made my second head and looks decent to what I’ve seen but I’m having so much trouble making a helmet , I just don’t know how to do it. When I do it look’s so bad I get upset over myself because I have stupid polygons edge sticking out of inside the model and I’m like what the hell is this? and I try flatting it lol. So I got a confusing career ahead of me and if anyone got some “wisdom” , please do share - lol .

Two common ways to make a helmet:


  1. Mask the mesh where you want the helmet to be. Then press Tool>SubTool>Extract.
  2. Use Retopology to design your helmet. You can learn about that feature here: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Creating_New_Topology (In fact, the page specifically mentions helmets. ;))
