New to ZBrush can anyone give some pointers?

Hi, like I said I’m new to Z-Brush. I’m a Web Developer, and scripting is my line of expertise, but I’ve lately wanted to go more into Designing, and being creative. So I got Autodesk 3DS Max 2010, Unity 3D (not the pro couldn’t afford to be buying 2 of the same type of software lol), and most recently Z-Brush. So basically, I want to learn how to detail faces, muscles, and basically turn my concept art, into detailed real looking creatures.

Now I know proper forum edicate, so just like over at Autodesk, I’m not coming here looking for someone to step by step teach me things they worked hard to learn. I’ll constantly be looking for tutorials, reading, and trying to figure things out through hard work and determination. Basically, I’m just looking for some pointers as far as good Tutorials, tips from anyone, and also I’d like to get to know the community!

My name is Justin, I’m 19. I’m taking courses to attain my bachelors in Web Development, and certificatino in IT. Then going back for my business degree, and still undecided as to what I’d go for next. Probably my CDL - A, just because it doesn’t hurt to have a good paying back-up plan if designing web-sites pans out not to be stable. But I’m hoping that by learning more than just coding, ie. designing, flash design and scripting, full on game design and coding, etc., that I’ll have a decent amount of valuable experiences to keep myself steadily in the development field. My Hobbies include riding bmx (if anyone knows Mutiny Bikes. Co. I’m in the Stoked for Being pumped dvd, as well as 5 PAwoods DVD’s. I read books (sometimes I get too into it, and end up reading through the night and regetting it at work the next day lol), as well as taking my baby brothers places like parks, for walks, and trying to turn them into genius’s. My brothers are 3, and 4. Long distance in age from me to them but it’s a neat experience. I don’t do drugs, or party. Used to be in to all that, but long story short had to clean my act up.

So, sorry for the wall of text, and I probably should go look for an introductions category and post this into it, but I figure my first post is in here, and I don’t want to be rude. Thanks a lot, especially to the makers of Z-Brush, and to the whole community involved. I hope to in time become a pro with the rest of ya :).

Hi Justin, I am learning Zbrush myself and found a problem with self learning especially on the web. I found that there is nearly to much information and help which resulted (for me anyway) in more reading and research than actual doing. I bought books and dvd’s each promising to teach but each in a different way. I found that personal tutition was the best way for me to learn anyway. I checked out the forum here and found a guy offering this service at what I found to be reasonabley priced for what you get. I gave him a project in what I was interested in and he is breaking this down for me. The first few lessons are interface based getting to know zbrush type of stuff then some anatomy study. I think he has started to do a subscription service as well. Search for sandpiper on the boards if you are interested.

Again this was what I found to be the best way. There are loads of help on the boards and the web but as I said I was focusing more energy on researching these than actually getting into a zbrush work flow.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck with it
