New to the forum, New to Digital sculpting, Help!!!...please?

Hi everyone i’m Marve, i’m from Israel and 19 years old. I am new to digital sculpting. I joined the forum in hope of learning more.
This my first (relatively) big project.
The concept goes like this, it is the sort of monster you meet at a DnD dungeon crawl. The lower part of the body is an arachnoid while the upper is a skeletal humanoid(a good reference for this part will be Raziel from the Soul Reaver series).

I sat down yesterday with the concept in mind and started using Zspheres to create a base mesh.

I did model the arms but i later found out that they are not totaly symmetrical. Apparently something is off position, is there anyway to check and correct that quickly if that is the case? and any suggestion to workflow and brush use will be welcomed.

PS:
The reason i chose this concept is because i have yet to learn about human anatomy(it is horrible! i know), any suggestions on this subject will also be welcomed.

Hi Marve, welcome to Zbrush.

In my signature you will find a thread dedicated to zspheres. It has helped many people as many have contributed. Anything you learn is also invited to added to the thread. If you don’t find specific information I would be happy to direct you to the proper section. The knowledge contained seems to have helped alot of people over the years.

We have quite a few ‘humanoid’ characters you can grab in the thread. On the forum under various threads a few people have done entire skeletons with zspheres and I believe Ryan Kingsline has used zspheres for muscles with an interesting technique.

First off always just rough out the entire structure quickly with zspheres, don’t worry about size. Then add joints. Do all this with symmetry on from the beginning, including drawing the first zsphere. Don’t turn symmetry off until your sure you have stuff right. Don’t worry about topology, you can always fix that later in if your using a current version of Zbrush and re-rig with zspheres or use transpose. Just get your form right, then detail at the lowest levels and work up.

Oh, and have fun…

Edit: Here is Ryan’s cool idea: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=061704

Thanks for the help, i started over again this time never turning symmetry off(including with the first sphere) and it worked! I will soon start posting my progress any C&C will be welcomed.
