I’m not really into Anime (Miyazaki and a few of the Sci-Fi classics) but this new Japanese film, directed by American animator Michael Arias, is a visual stunner that integrates beautifully hand-painted backgrounds with well-executed 3D-based camera moves. Arias brings to it a true cinematic sensibility, especially for an animated film.
