New Sketch book and Beta

got back a test print of one of my models, excuse the cell phone cam… I gotta buy a point and shoot camera one of these days. Its so tiny…but so damn cute :stuck_out_tongue: the black paint was just to see the detail better, its amazing how much detail is in this little thing. Theres even knuckles and veins in the hand (which with the transparent material base you can’t really see) but still very happy. Now to actually do the custom work on big models for the toy company :stuck_out_tongue:

that looks like it turned out great. gota ask, what print company did you use and how much coin o’ the realm?

-i remember yer child-bot from luchcrunch. good job on him also. That would be a devil to print -but a model kit of 'em would be awesome.

hey guys havent posted in a bit been busy with work, decided to quickly crank out an hour sculpt from a sphere

Whoa! Creepy and awesome!

exactly, creepy and cool ;]

about an hour from a sphere, just a loose sketch based on “dustin” by anthony jones. I might go into this and fix it up in another crunch session, but for now blocking in will do.

I know a lot of artists are going for the very detailed skin, pores, surfaces but I actually prefer the surface of “Dustin” in its current state. I assume it’s from gradually building using the clay brush with the square alpha…It’s great, been watching your works, nicely done!

very cool!

thanks guys, and I agree to a point, Remember that Anthony is a Character concept artist, and so leaves some details up for interpretation from the 3D artist. That said I went with wrinkles no pores, and the skin looked stretched and not fatty.

took like 30 min to bang out a texture and tweak, really simple tones for this guy.

This looks really great! It is mind boggling just how much H. R. Geiger has influenced character/creature design and Sci Fi art as a whole.
I think there is something fascinating about a head being shaped smooth with the lack of eyes. Some part of us that fears the lack of vision on a primal level.

This creature looks amazing. Keep rockin !

thank you both  I haven’t done a full figured character from a sphere in a little bit, so I decided to start one. Its very scary and freeing at the same time, and recommend (after mastering what makes a good base mesh) to attempt a full character from a sphere. Anywho I capped it off tonight at about two hours fifteen min (those pants took some thinking about). Theres a lot of tweaks to be done, but I’m done for tonight.

I never ceased to be amazed at what you skilled zbrush artists can pull off in such a short time. This great character pulled out of a sphere in 2.25 hours is fantastic.

Great time and great sculpting!

You must upload the timelapse to youtube…just kidding…it would be great…excellent work as usual

Dang, just over two hours from a sphere for that? I would spend more time than that just making mistakes! I always get so lost in anatomy.

I would love to see a time lapse for something like this. Going from a sphere to a full figure just boggles my mind.

wreat work!
I love the material, I have a material like that but not seen to good like you material I wish if you share that material whit us.

@EZRA52: Thank you, I watch other artist go to town on youtube, and I get that same feeling. Its truly amazing how talented people are.
@nebular: Thanks, its a point of pride for me
@d100763: I have a bunch of character work on youtube most from a sphere, heres a playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iv6hEvsEuI&feature=share&list=PL1D469B8CF5669F07
@FatherO: Try not using the UNDO button so much, instead sculpt out mistakes, instead of stopping and redoing the action. The more you keep your brush on the sculpture itself the faster you will become, and the more fearless you’ll be. Undo is a powerfull tool but can be a worst enemy of someone who doesn’t know how to use it.
@JD MAXimius: Its simply an adjust Aturni turntable material.

I decided to take some time (about an hour) and block in some more clothing, I’m not exactly happy with this, but I’ll see where this goes. A lot of time went into figuring out what the jacket would look like, I’m still playing with it. I’m thinking maybe a futuristic road warrior with an apache flair.

Yeah what you say about not using undo too much makes sense. I notice I usually do better in ZB after I’ve been messing with some clay since I’m in the mind frame for forward momentum.
I just never thought about it really. But I’ll make a conscious effort to go with the flow and see where it takes me.

I think I finally am just starting to see the character in this, I’ll have some tweaks to do, but I kinda can see him, the person. I’ll post that satchel bag as its own ztool, because I like how it came out and its so simple.
