New Next Gen Game Character Progress

Hey y’all, for my first post around here, I though that I’d show what I’m working on, nothing too fancy, I’ve picked up a copy of 3DS Max, and I need to learn it, and what best way then to do an actual project with it. As far as ZBrush goes, WOW :grimacing: its just too easy and so straight forward! I have to do some Next Gen Game Characters. In this case, I’m doing 3 that are going to be together in the same scene. This is a mount, there will be a Barbarian kinda Hero riding it, still in the process of designing them, and also some kind of Bird minion, I think a Peregrin Falcon will be my choice but still not 100% decided on that yet.

C&C are more then welcome!

This is a character mount I’ve did in about 3 hrs of work. started with ZSpheres and worked my way up so far.

Please give me constructive critics, so far, 44 visitors, not a single reply, whats up with that?

Well JLCG since you give the oportunity, I would like too be the first to congratulate you

A simple model with some character as well!, I think the transition from the concept art to the final model is a very good one just would recommend adjust the “hair” thickness to be the same as in the drawing, I think it makes it look much more dynamic.

Also your 3D version shows some personality which usually is something difficult to achieve. Personally I like the 45 degree pose the most, it makes him look jumpy and ready to run!, maybe refine one pose and bend its tail or play with his arms. Of course not before adding the seat!

Nice start!

Suprised no one had said anything yet, so I figured id make a comment.
Somthing about the legs look a bit awkward…
Im thinking its either the thinner connection it has to the main body or maybe the heel joint. The concept has such a beefier top of its leg, and although youve done a pretty awesome job in getting this to look like the concept, Id maybe look over those legs.
Ive attached an image that kind of shows what im talking about.

Hope this helps…

amsomnia: thx, yes I agree with the Hair kinda strands, I was planning on brining it to either Maya or Max, probably max since I need to learn it and Maya I already know very well, I will need to change those hair strand and add some Nails to the Mount… It is for a Next Gen Game model, so I will pose once its done!

Josh_Strey: thx I apreciate, I will definitly make those legs bigger, and I think the tail a little longer too.

I’m currently at work and will do some updates later on tonight!

Thanks amsomnia and Josh_Strey for those nice Constructive Critics.

Please keep em comming!

Thanks

Hey y’all. Here is a little update, I did make the legs bigger, the Hair strand Thicker, thinking of adding more of those, added the sattle, the harnest and the somewhat belts holding the sattle…

It is by far at a finish state, once I have a nice looking thing, I’ll retopo everything to have more control over the details…

Any C&C is more then welcome!

Hey JLCG! I think it looks good. Perhaps you should give the character more sharp details (on the face and chest…) like the ones you have in your concept.

Just something personal - I like how your riding character isnt overly handsome, I dont plan on doing any beyond beautiful things myself, i dont think its necessary for anything. I spose hes got a fair body on him though, hed still drive the girls crazy.

delima1975: I will eventually put more details, its just a WIP for now, adding as I go, and I only spend a bit of time a day on that, since its something I do for fun out of my work!

rouncer: I agree 100%, why is the characters always perfect. Perfect face, handsome and the like. I preffer making something natural and not perfect, in my opinion Perfection is in Imperfection!

I will post some update tonight when I have a chance to work a bit more on those WIPs, thanks!

Hey y’all! Here is a little update on the Barbarian, yes delima1975 I’ve added details to the character, a lot, and its about 85% done Sculpting in my mind!

Any C&C is more then welcome!

Very cool :+1:

If I may be a snot for a second? The bulge created in the skin by the sandal straps make the skin look too loose.

pluMmet: Thanks, and no, you not being a snot lol, its actually leather like a boot, I know its the same mesh or tool, but its to save polys therefore ram! So i can concentrate on more important areas… Took a brake from the computer yesterday and didn’t touched any of those models…

Starting back working on those right now, will have updates later on…

Peace!

Hey y’all, as said earlyer. here is an update, I will not add anymore details on this one, I’m pretty happy with it, and now I need to figure out how to combine those subtools and make 1 mesh out of all that, so I can use the Retopology tool to make my Next Gen mesh, and transfer the details to calculate a good normal map! Any Ideas?

Anyhow, big render, to show most of the details. Not perfect, but like I say, perfection is in imperfection…

Any C&C welcome.

Peace!

the armour is awesome and so is overall model but the armoury is going inside his body at the chest i think you could work onit

So those aren’t low riding garter belts
Stupid of me…I guess the colors threw me off
