New MudBox Gallery!

Regarding the Digital Sculpting crown, Its not about who releases first its about who gets the multi-seat orders from the FX houses and game dev companies.

The way things stand zbrush looks like it will be sidelined in favour of mudbox due to mudbox’s streamlined work flow and real consideration of the needs of digital sculpting professionals.

zbrush will always be popular within its community and as a great one of a kind package but commerically something so well ~odd~ as zbrush is very hard to integrate into the pipeline whereas mudbox may well be seen as a drop in tool that requires reletively little training.

Another to aspect consider is confidence in the dev team of the respective companies, we know really nothing of how mudbox will be developed post 1.0, how frequent will updates be, will expected deadlines be met, and will the dev team listen and respond to suggetsions/bug reports/feature requests. Zbrush has already dropped the ball on most of those things and that doesnt instill confidence if you are considering tying it into your pipeline for X project cycles.

Must also point out something regarding the works posted
here and in Mudbox.
Again from an amateur point of view.
In this forum a few years ago, if you posted something that
was not created 100% in Zbrush, it was removed.
Even Photoshop was sneered at by the artists in residence at that time.
Now we are witnessing one of the values of Zbrush, as an adjunct to
another program(s).
There is a price though, it has reached the stage where you really
cannot tell what Zbrush did based on the work.
I would assume it is the same with the Mudbox works.

No, but if you had a gallery to show off I’d love to see it.

>>would you bail out on Zbrush?

as a hobbiest, nope. i hope to own them all.

as a pro, nope. i would own them all. (yes i’m a hobbiest atm)

Hopefully I will have a gallery soon and I will send you a notice as soon as it opens. I will put you on the VIP list that way you will not have to wait online.

I paid $1.99 for that app + $29 for a sub or something & to be honest $30 for Hex 2 is daylight robbery…

I really believe Mudbox will be out before ZB, but it won’t make much difference to who will be king or whatever, they are very different in a lot of areas & therefore appeal to different people. MB’s current beta is very solid but I’ve not even heard ZB is even released as a beta yet or do Pixologic not do that???

All I do know is Silo 2 Beta will be out this week to registered Silo 1.4 licence holders…

 @ Marcus. Hex 2 kicks it. I’m enjoying sculpting my multi million poly models in full 3D as well as texturing them at the same time. Once your UV’s are set, it’s a snap and is fast. Needless to say I still wan’t my new ZB!

Funny that all the vendors come out with all that cool mega complex functionality… and barely anyone is able to write the underlying filestypes to exchange data and or animation (a specially dark chapter) correctly.

No hero’s there… Anywhere…

If mudbox is only for 3d modeling and not 2d painting then its out of my tool box.

But I need to say this again why are all of you debating again ?

Someone wants a christmas pie other a christmas wine - guys first let christmas come or you wanna celebrate it tonight ?

I dont think santa will allow that.

I dont think santa will allow that.
(yes I will!)

The answer to this is 42!

Lemo

Curiously enough, it is. Select the Polymesh3D [Star] tool - the one tool every modeler must know about! - then look at the Tool palette ‘Item Info’ slider.

From the MB FAQ page:

How much will Mudbox cost?
Pricing has not yet been announced. Though Mudbox is a highend industrial tool in its genesis and focus, it is important to us that Mudbox be accessible to home users and students, and Mudbox pricing will reflect this concern.

In product announcement parlance this may be interpreted as expensive but with educational discounts.

Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed.

Does this mean the mudbox kids, got screwed?

Just surpised to see ID softwares monster; created in zbrush and displayed in pixologics gallery is now and in mudbox gallery…
Lokks like pixologic and ID partnership is over…

why would you bail on something that you will get for free( i say free, because if you bail out on something i assume you currently have a working version of 2.0 as it is, and the upgrade will be free.) more tools in your toolbox. it would be a bit idiotic to skip certain tools that could possibly take your models to a whole new level by using zbrush, than not using it because you are too stubborn to learn a suck it up and use it as it is. if its free then why bail?

Rumors say that Daz3D is distributing MudBox!
Lemo

For .99

How can you use if it is not release? Free means nothing if you do not have the software.

Reread my post the scenario is based on X being release before Y.
Would you buy X even if the upgrade to Y was free but Y was still not availble to public.
