New from Poly Paint turning Black

Hi guys urgent help required for a deadline im using zbrush 4:

For some reason 1 of my subtools refuses to apply colour every time i try to poly paint and then try and make it pick up the colour by clicking “New from Poly Paint”. If i choose new from UV the Uv’s appear correctly and i have checked the obj in max and it seems fine. I cant colour fill it either.

All the other 8 subtools I have been painting fine and dont know why this one wont work. My usual process for painting has been:

Zbrush poly painting how to:

Tool - UV Map - Select Size
Texture - Set w x h - click New
Pick colour, fill object
Paint
Tool - Texture Map - NewFromPolyPaint - Clone Texture
It’s now ready for export from your Texture panel.

Have i accidentally done something or clicked something i shouldnt have? Or is my obj bugged?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

do you have any layers turned on?

I think I have the same problem.
I have a model with a UV, I have polypainted the different polygroups (all contained in the one subtool)
When I come to convert polypaint to texture only the one polygroup converts the rest bake black, like its masked. I have checked there’s no mask. and as suggested above their are no layers.
I can hide subgroups and the remaining one will bake.
I have a feeling I’m doing something stupid. But help would be appreaciated
