Need simple Mesh Union. Not Dynamesh.

Can Zbrush do a simple mesh boolean union? I normally combine things with dynamesh. But for this i need to keep some topology on the meshes I am trying to combine.

I realize that it is probably a noob level issue but I couldn’t find any info after searching and trying many things out.

Merging subtools not working for you? Or ZRemesher?

See merge visible on this page >> http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/subtool/

Deleting the target polygons and using the CurveBridge brush is the only way that I’m aware of in ZB4r6 currently to combine two objects leaving the rest of the topology intact. In that case it only draws new topo between the two objects. It may or may not be useful for the situation you portray, depending on where you need the union to occur.

Depending on how complex the geometry in question is, you could always manually retopologize the meshes together.

All other methods involve a total re-mesh.

What’s the reason the topology has to remain the same?

Does it have to be a boolean and not just a merge?

Here is one of Alex’s vidoes showing another method:

I appreciate the feedback everyone!

CurveBridge was the only thing that worked for this particular problem. I am getting the best results by joining with curveBrid
Thanks Spyndel.

MentalFrog-
I needed some of the topology to remain the same so my zbrush sculpt could fit in my project in another program (rhino3d-grasshopper-python). I need to do this often so combining the mesh outside of zbrush was really bogging down my sculpting process. It needed to be a boolean and not a merge because I needed it to be a one surface mesh.

Merging subtools and zremesher wasn’t joining the two meshes in the way I needed. I tried both before posting.

I was unaware of the trick in the video Dillster. It didn’t work for what I needed this time but I appreciate knowing about it.

Thanks again everyone.
