Need more sub divs for finer detail?

Hi,

Im fairly new to using zbrush.

I’ve got the base mesh sculpted for a crocodile that im doing as a personal project.

Ive subdivided the model to sub6 however I still cant get a high enough resolution. i.e you can still see the polys when im sculpting the finer detail such as the scales.

Anybody got any ideas how to get the mesh to a high enough res so that I dont see the polys?

Please see attached image

You can:

  1. Optimize your subtool polygon distribution by remeshing it to deliver more polygons where you need them and splitting any components than can be easily separated into separate subtools. The polycount limit is per subtool.
    Always Recommended

  2. Make use of Zbrush’s Hd Geometry:
    http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/subdivision-levels/hd-geometry/
Sometimes Recommended --Can make working with the mesh more complicated in some respects

  3. Go to preferences > mem > Max poly per mesh and increase the number there, allowing you to subdivide your mesh further
Not Recommended–Every machine has a practical limit on per mesh polygons beyond which things stop working well.

*Always have a good idea of the intended level of viewing distance for a mesh. If no one is ever going to see an area up close, there’s no point in laboring to deliver extreme detail to that area.
