Need more Polys => Group split ? -solution provided :)

Hi, folks!

My model has about 1.800.000 Polys and I need moooore.
If I´d subdivide it now it would have more Polys than my system could handle.

So what can I do?
I believe I read somewhere that the best way is simply to split it in several SubTools – is that correct?

I tried that and splitted my model in 6 SubTools ( head, legs, arms, torso ).
But if I subdivide for example the head once more I get a seam.

I´m aware of the “smt” button in the geometry palette – and turned it off.
So far, so good.

But I have to be very carefully at the edges --> can´t sculpt / smooth.

Would be no problem if my model would have clothes later…
but what if that´s not the case?

Anything I´m missing?

I´m thankful for every advice.

– Moni –

Try pressing Tool>Geometry>Crease before you divide. This should help prevent the seam from pulling apart – even with Smt turned on.

That helped a lot!
I´ve tried it and I´m really glad that I´ve been able to let the “smt” button turned on so that Zbrush smoothed everything automatically.
That was the biggest problem.
Now that I don´t have to smooth everything by hand I won´t have to work close to the edges and all the sculpting will be far away enough.
->More Polys + smooth mesh + no visible seam-> happy :slight_smile:
Thank you!
