Need Models to draw Heads with Light and Shade

hi everyone

i am a profesional illustrator, and i try to draw heads with heavy shading across the faces. the problem is, its very hard. i dont find much reference as well. so what i am looking for, is 3-D models, that are realistic. and i could put shades on, so i could study the effects.

thanks and greetings, robozo

heres a sample of sean phillips, going into the direction i aim for:

ps. i have no experience with 3-D software!

Lots to read. http://docs.pixologic.com/?s=Materials

it is, thanks!

So are you looking for already made models? Turbosquid or another service is what you need from the sounds of it. I could be miss reading your question…as you never actual ask one.

thanks, i look for 3-D models (faces) to study light and shade on them. if its for free, it would not hurt either, because i am broke right now. Turbosquid looks good. can i use these faces to study light and shadow with them?

I cannot remember if you can import OBJ Files into Daz3d… But that would be a great way to play with light and shadow for what you want. DAZ3d was based off of Poser, which was originally design as a figure posing tool for hand drawn characters. It has become something else since then, but the principle of the original intent of the software is still there. The Reason I bring up DAZ3d Instead is you can often find it for Free, as apposed to Poser which is never free. It has a fairly easy interface for moving light and shadows and even Figure posing. The business model of DAZ3d is that they hope you like their base program and buy more of their models and expansion modules. I recommend it for still art study.

downloading DAZ3d, thanks a lot for your advice. ill be back, as soon as i know more, and tell you how it works!

it seems to work fine, the handling is a bit bulky, but hey its free, thanks alot!!

cheers, robozo
