Need info plz

I was wondering if anyone knows of any videos or tid bits I can get on Mechanical sculpting or hard surface modeling with Zbrush. I know poeple tend to do there basic models in Max or Maya and import it but I only want to learn this in Zbrush at the moment.

I did see a few tutorials out there but really cant afford to buy one at the moment. I think the best example Ive seen so far was a model made by MarcusCivis http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Image:Hard_Surface_example.jpg . This model was beautifly made so any links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

XAERO.

That amazing model is by Christopher Brändström - I only uploaded the image file!

You’ll find some useful videos to get you started (for example, the alien helmet) here:

Also the artists’ tips and tricks here are worth studying:

HTH,

Ya I saw all thoughs tips but i really need info on hard surface modeling. The alien helmet is all zspheres. Theres all these great tips and videos but nothing on hard surface modeling. :frowning:

Those links are the best on offer at the moment. ZBrush is primarily a sculpting program, so the hard surface techniques are really all about finishing with brushes like planar or polish. There’s no direct equivalent of the box or polygon modeling techniques of other programs (although retopology gives control of the base mesh see the tips by Joseph Drust ).
