Need help with Zbrush -> 3d Max VRay displacement

I’m wracking my brain trying to get semi-fine details in my sculpt to display in Vray. I’ve searched dozens of tutorials, but nothing seems to work. I can occasionally get very large surface wrinkles and things like that to display, but never fine details. For example, I’ve attached screenshots of my character’s lips; No matter what settings I try on displacement map export or when I bring everything into Max and attach a vradisplacement modifier, the creases NEVER look even remotely similar, if they display at all. Here’s basically what I’m doing:

In Zbrush
Lowest Subd Level on model (have also stepped up a level and deleted lower, exported like that)
Adaptive, SmoothUV, Flip V (have also tried it off) and 32bit ON
Mid 1 (have also tried Mid 0)
Scale 1 (have also tried “get scale” feature in Multimap exporter)
Create

In Max:
Add Turbosmooth, with one or two render itinerations
VradisplacementMod on top:
3d Mapping
Texmap (whatever exr I’ve created, instanced to the material editor, with the blur set all the way down.)
Amount 1
Shift -.5 (have also tried 0, on maps where I’ve turned the mid range to 0)
Min -1 (have also tried 0)
Max 1

If I’m totally missing something and someone can help me out, I’d really appreciate it.
