Well. To create the smaller skin folds you need to have a good understanding of anatomy. Not only of the underlying structure but also how skin falls and reacts to the bone and muscle structure under the skin. You need to know why an area is folding and bunching up on itself. Reference and practice are your best friends when it comes to the detail work.
I.E. A lot of people will just grab 1 alpha for skin pores on a human face when our pores actually change, they have direction and size variation depending on where on the face they lie. The also change as we get older.
To get wrinkles on something you need to work at a very high subD level (or at least enough to get you what you need). Check your reference often while working and go slow. You’ll soon get the hang of it.
You also don’t have to try working on full characters or creatures. You can grab the rhino that comes with Zbrush and just sculpt him up. Starting on a lower subD to get the main forms down and then moving up to add the higher frequency details and such.
Hope this helps.
thank you.
i know there is alot more to it then just spamming some folds on my model.
but first i need a efficent but still goodlooking way of creating them.
i dont want to use large alphas or something like that for the reasons you just said.
i want to make one or some (maybe 2 or 3 at one time) but without having to go many times over it and using alot of different brushes.
that would take too much time for a complex model where i need alot of those folds.
do you have any good brushsetting for that?
I go in and sculpt each fold individually, so I’m no help on an alpha end.
brushes, clay, smooth, dam standard, and inflate. That’s all I got.
mmh thats too timeconsuming if i want my model to have alot of folds all other the body
thanks though.
edit: why didnt i got that idea earlier?
i just made 2 folds on a plane and took alphas of it.
tweaked them in phtoshop and now i finally have something to work with.
damn i should have thought of that earlier …
this is how it looks:
