Need help with reference spotlight in zBrush 2019

I have a reference picture in zBrush 2019. Brought in with Spotlight. I want to use it as an overlay, with it’s opacity turned down, while I model underneath.

But when I go to turn off Spotlight, using either the Z key or the Shift+Z key The spotlight circle disappears but so does the reference image.

Is this a bug or am I missing something? I want the reference to overlay my initial polysphere.

Thanks for any help on this.

Pressing the hotkey Z should simply hide the Spotlight dial, your images should stay on the screen. Make sure the Spotlight Radius is not set (select and turn the dial to 12 o’clock) - it’s the icon next to Opacity.

If the images are still disappearing then check that you haven’t got a sticky key for Shift activated, or something similar.

When working with Spotlight for reference images, it is a good idea to turn off the Spotlight Projection button in the Brush palette>Samples sub-palette.

Thanks marcus that must have been the problem. When I tried it this morning it worked fine. Thank you for your reply.

Thanks, yeah it was the radius at 12 that fixed my problem, they were only visible when the cursor was near them.
