Need help with baking maps

I need help. I’m still kind of an amateur at maya and zbrush. I made the body in maya and sculpted in zbrush. When I put the maps(ambient and normal) on it in maya and rendered it out with mental ray, it came out looking like this. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and/or give me a decent tutorial on how to apply ambient and normal maps on a character.
