Need help using ZAppLink with high res files

I’m trying to use ZAppLink 4 so I can texture a model in Photoshop (CS5) and whenever I try, I get this message:
“Plugin Note: memory could not be allocated.
ABitMap:small_orange_diamond:Allocate”
and when I hit OK I get this error message:
“error encountered while attempting to launch external editor”

If I half the resolution to 4k it DOES work but I need it at 8k or I’ll lose my gig!!! ANY ideas/suggestions/crazy thoughts would be SO appreciated!

My computer specs are:
Mac OSX 10.6.8
Processor Name - Quad Core Intel Xeon (64-bit)
Processor Speed - 3 GHz
2 Processors / L2 Cache (per processor) - 12 MB
Memory (RAM) - 8 GB / 800 MZh
Bus Speed - 1.6 GHz

When I use Activity Monitor with both Photoshop and Zbrush open:
Free space: 5.00 gb
Wired: 521 mb
Active: 860 mb
Inactive: 1.4 gb
Used; 2.74 gb

Many thanks, Jana

Is Photoshop already open when you run zapplink?
How much scratch disk is allowed for Photoshop?

I’ve tried it both with Photoshop open and closed. And the scratch HD disk that Photoshop is using is 490 GB - is this not enough?
Thanks for your response.

thanks for your response-

scratch disk is high enough. I don’t have a problem sending large images to Zapplink.

I just checked this on my work computer and I also drop out when trying an 8k image.
I would submit a support ticket about it.

Is there a way you can work in 4 zapplink files to achieve the save result?
