I am learning about SSS(subsurface scattering)in 3ds max 8 and Zbrush.
I am using the SSS fast skin shader in 3ds max 8. In Zbrush I wanted to create the maps for the unscattered diffuse color, epidermal, subdermal, and the back surface layers. I found that in order for the most realism I have to map these layers or aleast some of them.
I have found few tutorials on how to paint SSS textures,
I know that it probally involves a lot of color mixing,
for example I would make my epidermal layer gray and morbid looking.
I would then rely on the subermal and back layers to allow the blood to return to the face to make it more flesh colored.
please help me with these maps, or post example of ones you have made your own. I found one post on zbrush central in which someone was painting maps like this, which was in the featured gallery by alancamara.
