need help looking for specific tutorials...

hey people:

There are a few techniques which I lack has been bugging me for quite a while now. I have been sifting through a number of tutorials, and I have to say that the artists here have been generous in sharing their workflow in zbrush. However, I am looking for a specific workflow to do concept sculpting, specifically for accessories and clothing. Until now, my primary workflow has been to model everything in xsi or maya, then import the objs into zbrush. Now, I would like to try a new way of doing it:

  1. obtain a base mesh in zbrush by using zsphere, or use my original mesh
  2. masking out parts of the mesh
  3. extract the mask out into a separate ztool, delete the unused mesh
  4. retopologize the mesh

I realize that there might be a number of tutorials which covers these, I was wondering if you’d like to share which tutorials you would highly recommend watching to achieve this workflow. I am looking for something very much to the point and fast to accomplish, and to tell the truth sometimes I am a bit overwhelmed when watching tutorials (maybe my attention span is below par, haha)

Hope this is not too confusing, thanks a lot.

Well the first three steps are completely straightforward. What you need is to learn more about retopology. Once you have that down, you can apply it in any way, including what you’re wanting to do.

Have you seen the retopology section at www.pixologic.com/docs?
