Need help finding names/info for features (if they exist)

I have been slowly working on a character project. I am at around 30 subtools currently. Some of them are just backups, just in case I screw something up. It is getting cluttered and time consuming to go through and adjust visibility of each subtool when I am trying to view only part.

#1

Currently it goes…

Character --> ~30 Subtools

Is there a way to make folders or layers so that it would be more like…

Character --> Helmet, 4 Subtools
–> Gloves, 2 Subtools
–> Armor, 5 Subtools

…and so on? Being able to view them all at once or just groups. I have no idea how to split multiple subtools into a new tool and I also have no idea if multiple tools can be viewed simultaneously. It would help with organization quite a bit though. (“3d layers” and “layers” don’t seem to be related)

#2

I have found myself using GoZ to bring things into Blender so that I can create curves and have an array mesh follow that curve. It is easy to adjust the object that is used to fill that curve and the curve itself is easily movable. I can’t seem to adjust an insert mesh that is applied to a curve, so I have been recreating the mesh and appending it to the curve mesh and re-applying it until it looks right(ish). This adds to the clutter a lot.

#3

So many things do not work with subdivision. ZRemodeler for example. If I want to insert or mask an edge loop, I can’t if it has subdivision levels. I don’t want to remove subdivision (reconstruction doesn’t always work or even tell me why). The best I’ve come up with is to Ctrl+Shift, SelectRect/Lasso and hide all but the 2 edge loops. Close, but not right. Is there something I’m missing? I’ve tried dynamic subdivision, but I think that just subdivides the geometry as it is and doesn’t hold any detail from higher subdivisions.

#4

I have scaling issues everywhere, but I’m not terribly worried about that right now. Every time I open ZBrush, I have to go to the Preferences --> Draw and adjust my Dynamic Brush Scale to 0.1 in order for it to work with my model. Is there a way I can set it as a default? Like an options text file somewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to rely more on ZBrush and not go to Blender whenever I need something fixed. #1-3 are what really slow down my work. #4 is just an annoyance. I try to search for my issues online, but usually find something completely unrelated. I’m mostly just trying to find out what some of these things are called so I can look them up and learn for myself.
