Need help about Maya to Zbrush process..

Hello respected seniors,

I’m doing my showreel…but little bit confused about low res and high res models…I created low res character model in Maya
(I already unwrapped the model in Maya) which I want to import into Zbrush for detailing and for normal map also but stuck at some points

  • is it important make low res and high res same character model in Maya before importing to Zbrush for more detailing?

-or only Low res character mesh is sufficient to do detailing in zbrush?

-i heard, Low res and high res model is only use in gaming industry not for animated films? i might be wrong…

your lowpoly model will work for detailing if you prefer. It doesn’t have evenly spaced quads so you might get some areas that have more detail than others, but on a simple character it shouldn’t really matter.

Lowres models are always used for animation (would you want to rig 10million points?).
