an update with the helmet. It’s not from the movie but based on historical reference about Spartans. thanks for viewing!

An update…I mostly worked on the body and face, posed the guy and made some of the props, still very simple. Also, put some color to find the pallete gonna use in textures.A lot of work to do, hope you like the progress.

Really impressive progress on the update , well done so far !
The work on the anatomy and expression is remarkable and the pose is
very natural and imposing. Btw, are you going to keep these dreadlock-like hair like that, or possibly sculpt something like pigtails? I think there’s a nice tutorial somewhere in the tutorials section, showing how to make hair like that
Aumakua thanks for your comment!
After a crash on the hard disc the project was stored, I had to re-do a lot of sculpting work. Anyway, the model is now ready for texturing. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Well done! Good work on the cloth and the armour… and he looks a tiny bit like Clint Eastwood now, hehe
Can’t wait for the painted version btw, are you going to make the crest with hair afterall?
Thanks aumakua! Yes, I’ll use hairfx in Max for the crest.
A test-render for the sss shader. I’ll render the final image in Max with mental ray.
The eyes and the eye-area need some more work, and wonder if the beard is gonna be mesh or hair fx in Max…

starting to look very nice. My only suggestion would be to take a bit more time on the eyes. They are the first thing most people look at and if you could make them more life like with shader, textures and more modeling on the lids your piece will be much better than most who only focus on structure.
Thanks for the comment poletH! In next update I’ll definately improve the eyes.
Another test-render for SSS shader. Thanks for viewing, your critique is welcome!

Hi, i like work u did on spartan especially i am doing project on the same subject you can check out my progrees
SPARTAN
This looks great, modeling and shading are awesome. My only crit is that the toga looks a little more “male stripper” than gladiator. The waist line is too low and the skirt looks like a mini skirt. Its an excellent job but I would think about making the toga match the rest of the armor overall - I’m not saying a major overhaul, just some tweaks here and there to make it look more like something a warrior would wear. Does that make sense?
montyband: Thanks for the comment! I’ve already check out your project, you’re doing a very good work so far.
robotball: Yes it makes sense! You have a good point about toga, my try was to combine the historical reference and the look of the movie “300”. I’ll try to make some changes, and when put a shader on, maybe looks better.I’l put an update soon. Thanks a lot!
Ok, the most work already done… I have to do the hair in the helmet, little modelling, lighting, texturing details and it’s finished. Any comments for changes or things you don’t like, it will be very helpful! Thanks!

I thin you should work on specular map try breaking it with noise pattern and lover it down a bit.
montyband, thanks a lot for the advice, I’ll try it.
THIS IS SPARTA!!!
excellent work man. my only crit is that he legs looks a bit short
TheNorm thanks for the comment!
I think that the legs look shorter because of lens distortion. If you look at first zbrush images it looks ok. I’ll fix the camera angle and lens to fix it.
This is the final image. I worked many days on this one, time to start something new. Hope you like it!
