N-trig pressure sensitivity issue.

Hi

I’ve noticed an issue on the Surface Book using ZBrush 4.8.

Essentially ZBrush loses pressure sensitivity when you try and import an alpha, save a file or do anything that brings up a file request box.

The only way I can work in the program currently is to rely on quick save and use Michael Dunnam’s XMD toolbox to bring in alpha’s and brushes (neither of these options bring up file request boxes so the pressure sensitivity doesn’t go)

Has anyone else using a surface pro 3 or 4 or a surface book had the same issue?

I’ve created a support ticket for this, and received what I must say was really unhelpful advice that essentially told me to take the issue up with Microsoft which I did, who then confirmed what I initially thought that this is not really a Microsoft issue as the pen is working everywhere else and with all other programs, this only started to happen with version 4.8.

It would be good if Pixologic could include a fix for this in their next release

I know this isn’t a huge comfort, but you can get around the issue by using the touch interface instead of the pen when opening the file requester for saving, importing, etc. It is the act of using the pen in the file requester interface that sends ZB’s connection to wintab out to lunch. I see this problem only in Zbrush, not in other wintab programs, so I theorize that there is something going on when Windows ink stylus interface from wintab to use the file requester. if you have a mouse setup (or the touchpad available) these can also work the file requester without causing wintab to drop out.

Hopefully Pixologic will add support for the current stylus interface in Windows 10 in addition to wintab as many applications already do to avoid these kind of glitches in the future.
