My works in progress (Sculpting Adventures)

i am working on a snowman for my art depts holiday card. this is what i have so far, it will eventually be textured/displacement mapped in maya, and rendered in mental ray into some sort of simply winter scene.
the eyes and nose are just sort of placeholders at the moment, and the mouth i still have no good ideas about. any suggestions are more than welcome, thanks for viewing. :+1:

pretty awesome :+1: :+1: :+1: keep posting

thanks a lot man!

This is Hilarious!
Maybe he could use a pipe and the limbs could fit his personality more?

yeah i was thinking about redoing the arms, and a pipe would probably me appropriate.

i finally finished the snowman!

final render, different layers rendered out of zbrush, composited in photoshop.

Thanks for viewing, Happy Holidays to everyone!

not too shabby.
It might make sense to have some subtle blues in the snow. your shades of gray make the snow look a little dirty…
Overall nice job!

I like it. It has a pissed John Goodman quality to it. And nothing says Christmas like a pissed off John Goodman snowman.

Hey guys! Finally here to post. I have been super busy this past month spending time with family, DRIVING to Los Angeles from Maine, and now taking classes at Gnomon. I am luckily enough to be enrolled in Ryan Kingsliens Anatomy and Texturing classes, which Ill be posting my work from shortly.

Anyway, I have been experimenting in environmental modeling and texturing after seeing Ryans video a while ago. I sort of mimiced the theme and subject from his Master class demos, but I kind of expanding on his techniques a little bit. I think it turned out pretty okay, and I think I have found a new hobby in Zbrush! Look for more environmental posts, and images from my Zbrush Anantomy class soon! Thanks for viewing! :+1:

my fear was dying without having lived my life in the manner i want to live and accomplishing the things i want to accomplish. i guess its a pretty univeral fear, but its really my only true fear. hope you like it.

hey everybody.

here is an anatomy study i started in class today. working mostly on forms and planes of the body. let me know what you think and if you see any areas that need work.

wow keep up the late night activity. I know how you feel

Nice Matt, It looks like a good start.
The neck appears too long, and the head look too small.
The clavicle usually has some curve to it.
Pecs look good. The ribcage should taper a bit more.
Obliques look good. You might want to check the insertion of the deltoid.
But, heck, what does Ryan think?

socttleroc- thanks man! yeah i havent been able to sleep at all lately, so i figure 3D is a good use for my time.

matt- i agree with what you pointed out. we are mostly working on overal proportions and forms right now, i am going to go back over the model and adjust a lot of it. the class is amazing though, very, very useful. ryans knowledge of anatomy is exhaustive.

i couldnt sleep at all tonight (its almost 9:40am now, im not sure if ill even try anymore. so i decided to bust out this gesture sketch in the past hour or so. let me know how it looks and what needs to be improved.

looks like a nice study. was this a zsphere base?

no, but it may as well have been. just a simple basemesh we made in anatomy class for our studys
