My own pic in reflection map --

Yep, I’m a complete newbie. I’m trying to put my own picture in the reflection map material and am having NO luck. I know I’m missing something easy – thought I’d ask anyway.

Thanks.

I think I’m trying to do the same thing.

How does one go about ‘super-imposing’ a picture into zbrush to use as a reference while sculpting?

If I am understanding your question correctly (and from one noob to another), I use a plugin called Image Plane. It creates a menu item on the Textures menu, where you can load and manipulate images to be used for reference (among other capabilities).

Do a search for it here.

Hope this helps…

To add an image to the Reflected Map material:

  1. Import the image into the Texture palette.
  2. Select the Reflected Map material and click on the ‘Modifiers’ submenu to open it.
  3. Click on the ‘S1’ shader channel.
  4. At the bottom of the Material>Modifiers submenu, click on the small ‘Texture’ square. Select the image you loaded at (1) from the popup.
  5. Adjust the Add Reflection & Sub Reflection sliders for the effect you want.
  6. For additional effects you can load another image into the S2 shader channel, adjusting the Reflectivity slider.

It helps to use a sphere while adjusting a material like this, to better see the results.

For using an image as a sculpting reference, if you are on a PC then the Image Plane plugin will help. See the Download Center:

I knew it would be simple.

Thank you.
