My mesh explodes?

I have started modelling a character using zSpheres. I am using Zbrush 3.1 and this is my first serious modelling project after a year or so of messing around with second life sculpties.

I have encountered a weird problem with ZSpheres. I’ve attached a pic to illustrate what’s going on. Previously, I had the arms closer to the body hanging down and I decided to move them to more of a t pose. the fingers worked fine before I moved them, they stretched when I moved the spheres of the hands and wrists so I deleted the zspheres of the fingers and did them again. All good until I come to the thumb. One zsphere works fine, but the second causes the mesh to explode when I hit A to preview it.

I have tested it on other parts of the body, but the problem seems to exist on the hand sphere.

I’m going to try deleting the hands and doing them again, but I would appreciate any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong.

**update deleting the zspheres of the hands and forearm didn’t make any difference, mesh still 'sploded, but putting the thumb on a new zsphere between the palm and wrist worked fine. It’s not perfect, but it will do.

Before you begin any sculpting or texturing of a preview mesh you need to turn the preview OFF and press Tool>Morph Target>StoreMT. This “bakes” the preview so that its point count and order won’t be recalculated every time you turn the preview on. You can then sculpt and texture your preview without trouble. You’ll also be able to use the ZSpheres to repose the mesh. The only thing you won’t be able to do is add or remove ZSpheres, as this would force a new point calculation. DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY PREVIEW SCULPTING OR TEXTURING UNTIL THE ZSPHERE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN FINALIZED.

Thanks for your response aurick, I am not actually up to sculpting or texturing the preview mesh yet, as I wasn’t finished positioning the zspheres. This weird mesh explosion happened after I repositioned the arms and recreated the zspheres of the arms and fingers, and only the second one on the thumb caused the problem when I tried to preview the mesh to see if the zsphere was in the right place. I’ll have another go at the zspheres today from scratch and hopefully won’t recreate this problem
