My little zombie project - WIP

Hi all
I just started a new project, something to get more comfy with anatomy / bones / muscles… So I figured out a zombie would be perfect to work on all this at the same time.
I plan on focusing on the head, so that’s where I start. I made a rough sculpting of the skull, and I started to add the muscles to it.
So far I spent 3 hours on this.

A little update, it’s beggining to have a shape I really like.
It’s the first time I’m able to have lips that actually seem ok, a huge step for me

Another update… It’s a good feeling to see some progress. So far 6 hours spent modeling. I’ll have to start retopologizing the whole face as there are some places around the lids that are messed up.

All comments / critics welcome

Keep going and try to confront with references at every stage of modeling !

really great work so far! You have very strong forms on this sculpt, have you been reading up on Ryan K?
I’d recommend pulling the corners of the mouth (lips) back a bit. feel on your own mouth (if you like) how your lips curve back around the sides of your teeth. I’d also recommending pulling the neck forward a bit, and giving this guy something of an adam’s apple… Once you give him ears too, it will really give you a better read on the proportions as well.
keep up the great work!

jojo75 > Thx man. I’ll make sure to keep an eye on my references

talster > Thx too. I’ve never heard of Ryan K, sorry. I’ve the book from Scott Spencer which I really like. Thx for the feedback, now that you point it out the lips are a bit off and should go further back. The neck was made in 2 minutes this morning before my toasts get burned, so I didn’t have time to add much to it.
More to come soon

Thx everybody for the encouragement, I really appreciate it.

ok, I’ve had a little bit of time to work on it, I’ll soon start the ears, and then jump to the hand study for the zombie project.
As usual, all comments more than welcome

And another update. That’s incredible how a couple beers can help me to keep focused :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel pretty happy with it, I don’t see much to change… Tell me what you guys think of it?

Herve

Ok, I started to model the body, I plan in doing 3 different parts : upper body (waist to the head, excluding the hands), lower body, and hands.
Here’s the upper body, still to improve (i want a bit more muscles, and a lot of definition in them).
Feedbacks welcome (as usual  )

I like how it’s coming, dont stop

Hi, it’s comming good up. You will then crush the head to let appear the skull ?
Keep going :+1:

talster > Thx, I promise I won’t stop

Daaims > Thx man. I don’t know yet, I’m still discovering ZBrush. I think I’ll try to experiment with the ZProject brush to mix & match the finished head with the skull & muscles… will see what it gives.

I’m currently working on the hands, the hardest thing ever for me. More to come soon!!!

Ok, here’s tonight’s work. I redefined some muscles, smoothed out the body, and started the hand. It’s coming along better than I thought it would, but I may not be very objective :stuck_out_tongue:
Waiting for any feedback. Thx everybody

I’ve been able to spend some time to transpose the model, put the main elements together and try to give it some life…

I find transposing really hard, especially with the hands. I’m not 100% satisfied yet but here it is. In case it’s not clear, he is eating himself… why bother to attack people when you’re hungry and already dead right

All comments/critics welcome.

a little update… damn, if only I had more free time, I could do more.
I refined the hands and flesh, and started to sculpt the details, mainly one the face.
Comments and critics welcome, as always

Great job, and very crazy concept. I like the way you executed it. :+1:

Thx aberrant, I appreciate it

Tonight, ZBrush crashed, losing 30 minutes of work
Anyway, I did it again, and there it is… I’ll add a bit of clothing (pants).

To explain a little bit, he’s stuck in concrete, so it explains that he’s eating himself.

As usual, C&C …welcome

Oh my god ! what a hungry man… I think Just now he started eating himself  Nice idea & Nice work.

Interesting idea. Feel real sorry for this guy. And what’s worse is that there’s the smell of McDonalds wafting down the road at him! Keep us updated :+1:

That’s nice, seems you guys like my concept, makes me happy. Thx everyone !!!

A little update, started the clothing during my lunch time, it’s not much but feels like the scene gets more credible, and more interesting (at least in my opinion;) )
In the future : retopology of the clothing once I’m satisfied with the shape, a belt, more details and then … textures.
