My first Zbrush project

Hi all , I am new to 3d modeling - here is my first attempt. still needs a lot of work ( But Fun) - I am having issues with layers - once I create a new layer and return to my previous I can not edit it or move it , and how can I group layers together without merging them - What am I doing wrong ? or am I thinking to much of photoshop. I will be sure to have more stupid questions soon for all you pros .

Not bad at all.

Try 1) to go through the manual, boring yes, but educational.

and 2) watch all the Zscripts under Help

At least then forum dwellers can help you with real problems to get you up to speed.

Ok PM, I am going to have to hate you! That’s a pretty damn good go at a first post on your first try at 3d!!

To answer your question, check out the FAQ forum here, that and about a 100 others you’re going to ask next are answered there. And as Jason said, the scripts included with z2 can’t be beat in learning the basics to the not so basics, and the practical guide…should answer all the questions you have after that 100.

Zbrush is a bit different from other 3d apps. Layers aren’t what you would be used to in other apps if you weren’t new to them. The way zbrush works seems less intuitive to those who have used other 3d apps but to an artist used to painting or airbrushing or sculpting moving to 3d…it is actually very intuitive.

check out the above mentioned and you’ll be addicted and sleepless for about 4 months…well that’s a lie…forever!!!

Thanks - I have been reading and I am still trying to get use to the bake and snap shot thing - and then clear and re draw - eeek - Just not use to it yet - I attached some old school stuff I do still on the board

Hi pmdesign

I’m new to ZBrush too. I just got my Z2 Mac version not long ago.

I think yo uare doing a fine job being new to ZBrush. As for me I’m still having some problems when I add eyes to my model.

Perhaps we can explore ZBrush together.
