This is my first zbrush model and it took me a month to finish. He was posed manually as the plugin kept crashing. I made most of the alphas and materials. The lighting is baked to the materials which in the end made it a lot easier. I could go on forever about the headaches but I still have a heap to learn.

I did a little bit of After Effects compositing to the movie as I wanted to add sound and color correction.

I really like using zbrush it makes 3D modeling a lot easier to get your head around.

This character is my own design, I actually made him about 10 years ago for a comic I never finished. thought it would be nice to do one of my own designs.
its kinda strange seeing him in this medium.

this model is being 3D printed and painted at www.ownage.com and I should have it by start of March 2010. cant wait. Will post pics of it when it arrives.
I know its been posted twice but the first one isnt working.

Hi, i’m the one with a few zbrush questions ( perspective and pov ).

I think you need first to study anatomy, even if you are doing unrealistic things. From my point of view you are too far from the natural way muscles are formed.
The global silhouette looks like a human one, but muscles don’t. that’s the pb.
Keep working !

Do you like Dragon Ball Z? Many of the shapes have a very clear styling that is similar to a lot of the characters in DBZ. I see a lot of Freiza, and Cooler in there with a little bit of Piccolo and Cell as well. Not a crit, mind you, just an observation.

Keep refining and let’s see some more soon.

Great first model. You can tell you know the muscles, but they don’t fit together that well. It looks like they are pieced on rather than connected to bones. I think it’s most apparent in the foot.

thanks for the comments. i know the muscles look off I can see it more now that u pointed it out, I just wasnt sure how to fix them. the character is from a comic i was making when i was younger so I wasnt going for a realistic look. Dragon ball z was a big inspiration when i was drawing this guy so it kinda looks like that style.

I just wanted to finish a piece so I could learn the workflow process as I was clueless when i started. It kind of sucks when u almost finish a tool and u realize u did it the long way.

I have started another one and it seems so much easier and quiker now that i understand the process.

Looking Great, what printer and material was used and at what cost?

thanks, I’m pretty happy with it .cost is 350 american, this incudes the paint. not painted yet. price will vary depending on your model. www.ownage.com for more info.

I had this model open so I thought Id do another quick render. I need a better camera to get some pics of the 3D print. I finally got it and its awesome. He gave me a discount because it took so long.

Very nice! About how much do 3D prints cost? They vary, I’m sure, but say how much did this one cost?
