So, here is a small update. I worked on the head, the forearm, and on the right leg (anyway, I make the legs a bit longer). Still in subdiv level 4.

it’s looking good. keep it up.
Hi All! Here is a small progress. I worked on the details on the legs, and the head. I repositioned the eyes as well, and made the head narrower a bit. If anybody have a good idea how to make the skin texture, please let me know.

its looking better. I think you should look at some ref pictures of t-rexes to better see the porportions. I know that they have large heads and small legs but u made them a bit too exaggerated. Also, those eyes are very small. again i know t-rexes have rather small eyes but i can’t even see the ones of yours.
good luck.
nice work man the only mistake for my eyes are the arms i think they are too small, but anyway, good work
not bad man
Thanks guys, I have no time to continue sculpting yet, but I hope I could finish it soon. I checked several references, but couldn’t decide the exact size of the arms and eyes, but maybe I will make them bigger a bit. I hope I can post an update soon. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi All! After a long break, here I’m again. I just started detailing the head. I’m on subdiv level 6, but it seems, I’m running out of polygons. On subdiv level 7 I will have 5.5 million polys, I hope it will be enough, because my workstation is not powerful enough for subdiv 8.

really great model specially the teeth
have a nice time
what did you use for the scales on his neck ???
plz tell me i just cant get it right !!!
I know this problem ^^, i think you will have enough because your low poly is very clean !
Next time, for more poly, you can add more subtool, for legs and arms for example.
I am beginner so i can do mistake ^^
Your model is great ! the sculp seems to be on the good way !
Cheers.
Hi OlirO! Thanks for the encouraging words. I have not much time nowadays, but I’m going to continue this dino soon.
Thanks. I lost my motivation, because I was not able to work on the details. But seeing your work was a great motivation for me, so I started a new t-rex from scratch, with better topology. I hope, I could finish it.
You might want to stop at around 1 mil polys and use HD geometry to add the details you are talking about.
Thanks for the idea mate. The other solution is for me that a major upgrade on my hardware But at first, some retopo could help maybe…
I find with CG, you can upgrade infinity and still find need of yet more power. I love that Pixologic keeps trying to find solutions for those limitations.
Very nice =)
I love the teeth ! I’m very new to zbrush, and I’m trying to draw some teeth just like that, I noticed in your screen shots there is one with just the gums, then the teeth were added later ?
How did you do the teeth ? =)
Drakaran, you are right, but my old computer still need some power I love the way that Pixologic developing ZBrush. Amazing tool.
RockyM, I made the teeth in 3D Studio Max, as well as my base mesh. So first of all, I made the body of the t-rex, modified it’s major shapes in ZBrush, and at the lovest subdivision level I exported it to the Max. I made the teeth in Max, and imported to ZBrush as subtool. After that, I made the sculpting work on them. I hope, it could help you. If you have any kinda questions, please let me know, but I’m not a great expert at sculpting, still learning.
Hi Bukoba, i remember your name from years ago when u created a ferrari F1 car and posted it on cgtalk it was great and inspired me to do 3d! Your T-rex is coming along great but contrary to recent comments i think your teeth actually need a bit of tweaking. They seem too straight and needle like for an adult T-rex although u may be going for this look. i have just started a T-rex of my own in maya/zbrush and had the same problem. Heres a good reference image i came across…also i think ja popovs T-Rex is always good reference as uv noticed.
