My First time at Zbrush

Hello guys this is my first post here at zbrush, i’ve been interested about 3D for a while, but i have not much time to it, but now on holidays im trying to have some time to learn a lot of things, but now im not much motivated, i cant get my ideas look good. but let me show you my first almost done job (im not thinking about pinking him up again, i’ll try other things for now)

this is the head:
[![jaca1.jpg|617x558](upload://ewxh2EgZ2SviSva4igsezp3VNMM.jpeg)](javascript:zb_insimg('37878','jaca_5.jpg',1,0)) messy maya render, i tryed increasing alpha gain to have more detail at the body but it gave me that, bump isnt visible too

thanks it good to receive some positive comments hehe

oh no one comments :frowning:

I will comment!

Great work! Nice to see u experiment with the shaders and colors.
However, since its a crocodile why not some of those powerful scales on the back…as a contrast to the more soft front of the chest? And also some more contrast in the colors perhaps? Think the overall green color is too much alike…and then perhaps widen the glosiness of the shader a bit more so its not so glass-like, kinda like leather? Well…just suggestions

I really like the character…he has so much personality…maybe some animation?

Keep it up! :E

This is my first concept in ZB. I love this program.

think youre right about the colors, well i am experimenting and this was really my first texture, ive never colored nothing wherever. at start it was a crocodile but with evolution i thought that it was more like a strange reptile(heheh runing away from reality), i saw some crocodiles on the web and done some alphas to project, but it was a litle to repetitive, so i drawed them on the paper and projected them i really liked the result but when i projected the front alpha it looked very strange so i thougt it looked more like a reptile more shiny and softher skin, the back still could be rigid.
but please dont look at maya render, its just to show the problem i got, but still it could be less shiny on zbrush
thanks for the sugestions, my consern now is the modeling process, i think im better, but still havent done an human face (and body?..to much anathomy) so im not really happy…enviorements seem easyer but im stucked at a face

Well I got pretty much the same comment to all of you, Yeah zbrush is cool and all, it gives us more ease to do what we all want. But one thing thats lacking in all of these models and works is anatomy. Anatomy is the major role, if your creating lets say environment pieces, or mechanical, you could more or less go directly with detail, but even with those u need to start big then go small. So my only advice to all of you is either buy or check out a couple of animal and human anatomy books and really study how the muscles and all work. And when your doing muscles you gotta block in the major ones in first, then go into the finer detailed ones. Remember start big then go small, and once muscles and all that sweetness is in place then you could go back and work on detailing, like scales and anything you want. Remember detail is just the icing on the cake, structure is the cake.

my first, is still a WIP, but i hope someone likes it…

hi ppl jus fort id release another post just to say im still workin on models but want 2 touch them up b4 i show yall . im still likin every1s workin progress keep at it . try to develop ur own style and way of modelling dont follow all advice try modelling how u feel comfortable . For example if i was gonna model a head i would just use a 3d sphere and morph it into a head instead ov using zspheres . because thats my preference . speak agen soon cya!! p.s theres nothin like the enjoyment i get out of makin a nice 3d model . i get such a kick :+1:

nice work…the only things i don’t think they’re right are: the place where the palms meet the finger; and the flatness of the shoulder (behind view). All and all…awsome!:+1:

Deviating from the subject…my second attempt at a human head (only front view and a WIP) any comments and opinions are welcome.

Thanks for the comment Adrian . Good advice i will take it on board . I’ve been watain for your second post of your human head . I can see more of the facial elements and proportions developing . My advice would be try using masks to help build finer detail such as eyes , ears etc . But you seem to be on the right track keep working on it . It’s definatley getting there . Good luck !!! p.s us rookies should stick together .
