My first sketchbook 2011

Hi, i’ve been playing with zbrush for about 5 months and i’m still learning! This forum is great for hints and tips and i’ve picked up a lot from being on here. I’ve decided to start a sketchbook, so here goes…

Character sketches: these take between 1-4 hours depending on the details. I take the mesh into photoshop where i paint over to create the colour sketch.

Thanks for viewing. lunar-tick1-raw.jpg

Nice!! I just purchased Neville’s “Creative Character Design Techniques” about a week ago and I feel like my mind completely opened up to the world of sketching and sculpting. The guy is a genius. Great characters! There’s a sad quality that makes them strangely human in a very grotesque kind of way.

Thanks Skadalilama, Neville page is a great inspiration and there’s a lot to learn from his videos.
Here’s a couple more wip’s. the first is a robot sketch i intend to attempt to create in zbrush using hard sculpting techniques and the second is a quick zbrush sculpt. C and c’s welcome. Hope you enjoy! robot-1.jpg

Hi Guys, here’s a new robot concept to hone my hard surface skills. Lots of kit bashing using IMM brushes from Badking and the repository. The main body was dynamesh, as was the ‘helmet’. See how far i can push this.
