My first post, my first z-brush model and it's all Jaime Labelle's fault!

Great model! from the first pic, something came to mind immediately. Color him blue-gray and put a couple of whiskers on him, you’ve got a “real-life” older Panthro from the Thundercats!

A Aged Vulcan Sir John Guildguild.
Cool, :+1: :+1: :+1:

Pigumon, Hey Man… You’re the 4th person that’s told me this. I think I’ll have to do a version of him in Blue , gray just for fun!

WENDEX2112, Tried to find a pic of Sir John on line… No luck. Sounds cool, though. It’s sweet when people find characteristics of others in you work.

I know who you mean! Sir John Gielgud! There are a bunch of pics in google images under John Gielgud.

There are also some good panthro pics

Well you asked for it buddy so here it is! This is just a quicky photoshop job. You should definitely do a good texture map. Can you do Liono next?

Excellent!! 5 stars

Pigumon, Thank you very much. I do see the resemblance

Big Mac Combo, You the Man! I will definitely do a version of him after I finish my original one. Hmm Liono, I think I might have one in me somewhere
BMC e-mailed me the pic in the post. I told he had to post it. Very cool work.
Thanks for taking the time to do that! :+1:

guagua, Thanks I really appreciate that… My first vocal 5 stars.

Sorry guys for not getting this done any faster. Currently 300 is keeping me very busy.

Hi All.
Man life is keeping me busy these days.
Here’s the final render.
werewolf_one_final.jpg
I’d say 90 % of this is done in Z-brush.
Yes including the render.
Had a ton of fun on this.
Z-brush is now the tool of choice for me.
My hat off to all at Pixologic.
Keep up the great work all.
Cheers

awesome Job !
Your last render is fantastic !

Lucky_1

congratz man, this is nice. My only thought is you might have to much of the red showing through on the ear, a little less would seem more realistic to me.

voodoomonkey, sorry I missed this until now. I’ve been very busy and have been having troubles with my net connection. I’m impressed! I very much like the first images that you posted which show off the nice detail, and your final ZBrush render is also impressive. may I ask what you used for a shader it looks great. And damn that Jaime, he keeps introducing people to this app which becomes your obsession, I know it has really made my wife mad. Glad you are here I want to see more,oh yah I am no Rick Baker either.
Rick

Lucky_1, thank you it’s much, much, much appreciated. :+1:

stimpack, hmm… sorry, The part that sucks is that on my monitor it looks fine. I’m going to have to look into trying to work in linear space at home. Maybe that will eliminate the discrepancies. I’ll try to do better on that next time.

monstermaker, my turn to say sorry. I’m super swamped on 300 at the moment.

Thank you for your kind words.

The first renders are my favorites. I’m struggling to keep the detail in the model in my final renders. The fake SSS, at best is still only giving me a washed out silicone look. Tried rendering off passes and messing with them in photoshop… I’ll get it sooner or later

As for the shadder, I searched for the one I used on the image you commented on, but I didn’t save it. Nor did I save the document.
Z-brush Newbe…

Anyhow, I created another one tonight… so the material is a slightly modified version that Anthropus post here:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=032839
Obrigado Kris.

The lights are the same ones I used on this image:

werewolf_pose_done_web_big.jpg

I believe 80% of it is directly related to the texture maps though.
I’ve zipped up the material and lights, I used on the image above.
Note that I render using best and shadows on. Also I adjust the contrast
after the render to fit my needs.

As for Jaime, or as we like to call him on the corner, “Pimp Daddy”.
Yup, I need my daily fix… and BTW, my wife also seems to react the same way… Reoccurring theme?

On a side note: I had some people ask me why I chose to render on a 50% grey background for my previous post.

So here it goes:
It’s important for me to know how my model will look in real lighting.
If I can render it to my satisfaction in this kind of lighting. Then I’ll know with confidence that it will work in almost any enviorment or light set.

Any how, time to go before the wife beats me over the head with a skillet.

Incredible sculpture Cesar, he’s quite the looker  Great texture work too. You traditional sculptors are taking this place by storm!

yo, http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/attachment.php?attachmentid=30517

is simply WOW:cool:

Hello,

Sweet sculpture I must say, and I am more excited if it really is your first.
It does not seem to be a problem for you, and that makes me even more excited.
Bravo, superb and very very good.
That is my result!

Adios,

// Synok.

metric, man what can I say… thank you very much. I’ve replied to your post.
man you are a talent. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you for your kind words. It means much to me.

Abyssis, Warms the heart.

synok, Yes my first Z-brush head… much to learn. I’m a perfectionist bit of a curse really. But at least it makes you try to achieve better. Can’t say I’m naturally gifted like some of the people on this board. But I’m trying. So believe me no matter how many times I say it. I’m truly grateful for your compliments they do not fall on deaf ears. It’s truly my honor.

Cesar! Long time. Anyhow, I followed a path to here from Thor’s blog. Awesome Z-brush work. As you say, Z-Brush has taken modeling into a more traditional form, vs push and pulling verts.

Really nice model, especially for your first Z experience. Totally want to see that guy textured with a nice transluscent skin, with veins etc beneath. The eyes are definitely the soul of that guy. Looks like a cross between Gollum, and that damn Goblin-Quest character from the old Kodiak days.

Oh yeah - I’m working for Sony now. Did a stint for Neversoft for 3.5 years. Had a baby girl. Decided to get out of LA-La land, and here I be.

Hope all is well up there in CA. I’m assuming that you’re still at C O R E. If so, please pass along a “HELLO” to Paul and Ken for me: [email protected]

Cheers! Congrats on falling in love with Z-ing. Tis the future of model creating FOR SURE.

Sincerely.
–Dana Mac

Yo, what up.
Talk about long time no hear or see.
You followed to here from Thor’s Blog?
He has a link to here?
No longer at CORE.
Did you see , “The Wild”…
I think the movie turned out beautiful.
I’m damn proud of the work I did on the show.
I built Samson, Ryan, the plush Koala toy ( rig as well) and Kazar.
Some others too, but these were the main ones.
To be fair, I built the model for Samson and Richard Baumgarten finished it up.
Stayed on the show for 18 months… then bounced around from gig to gig, Montreal, Brasil, LA, San Clemente, Back to TO and now… I’m the modeling Sup here at Meteor Studios.
Super busy these days, we’re currently working on 300, Frank Miller’s next pic.
I’ve got no complaints.
Have you kept in touch with the old gang?
So how do you like it at Sony?
What are you working on?
Cheers
