very inspiring! Looking at alot of dragons today and I think yours look cool!
Just reminds me of something you’d see on Daz3D:

Very nicely detailed dragon.Nice posing too
Beautiful work! The scales came out REALLY nice. I can’t wait for the final texture.
Goobatastic
One thing that doesnt sit well is his almost human like arm and shoulder this isnt helped by the human pose that it is doing. The top half of his body almost feels like a human in a costume.
I think it’s exactly the near human posture of the dragon that gaves it the character and attitude. Human in a costume? Perhaps.
Great sculpt. I really like it. I think the dragon might benefit from some color/spec variation on the eyes, teeth, nails, and horns.
Great sculpt
Now it is looking great.
Eagerly waiting for full textured one.
Still working on coloring the dragon. I’ll post another update as soon as I get far enough along.
Here’s a few garden decor items I did for work. The frog and the old man are cast polyresin faces you can attach to trees. Those took roughly 2 hours each. The bike is part of a chime design and took about 5 hours and will be sculpted from one piece for production (which is why the holes are filled in). I would have liked it to have more detail, but it will be small anyway when finished (about half the size of the large pic), so small details weren’t as necessary.
All modeled and rendered in ZBrush.

I really love the wooden face
I am curious about the wood material you used . It’s really well done imo
My first rendering in ZB4. I brought back out the witch I was working on to see how the new render system would treat it. I really like the new system, though it took a while for me to start getting used to what all the settings were for. I still don’t know half of them. This render was made using the SSS material (tweaked a bit) on the SSS Startup Sphere in the Lightbox Project folder. A few passes were made for light direction.
The effect is too strong in the nose and chin, so I’ll have to figure out some other settings. The skin texture is simply noise added for now. Just wanted to add some texture for a quick rendering cuz I was all anxious to try this out. I’ll sculpt better skin details next. Then I gotta add her hair, hands and clothes.

She looks great. I don’t think you need to add much details at all, only on the lips. The skin noise works really well as a skin texture
Interesting thread here, Impressed
Now about zb4 sss. There is a last material called fresnel overlay. Copy as ch (channel). Now use a new double shade material and past it to the second channel. This will be your sss channel. So far, because three channels is even better.
Nose will probable need more pores and noise as sss will kill them. lol
Someone should write a tutorial about the new renderer, if not already. Lets have fun.
Sorry to be the first and possibly only kid in the fable proclaiming that the Emperor has no clothes, but the new SSS in Zbrush 4 simply does not look real, not in any image I’ve seen yet (and I’ve seen them all).
If you want to see SSS, look at Modo renders, Vray renders, etc.
In the image above, the figure just looks like he was dipped in tomato sauce.
Nice sculpt, though.
Com on now EricShawn, we’ll find a way sooner or later. BTW the only sss I like comes from mentalray. A blender user here.
Ericshawn, hehe be that as it may, as with any new feature in any application, especially one that just came out a few days ago, we like to play around with the settings and see how far we can go with it. It’s too soon for me to throw in the towel on it.
very nice stuff, cannot wait to see more.
it seen good modle to me.
Been playing around with various material settings and lighting passes some more. Also started on sculpting her some clothes. I need to work more on the folds of the vest part. I’ll add some hands too at some point so I can put her more in a “wicked” looking pose.
Rendered with BPR in ZBrush.
