Thanks guys! Here’s a detail shot of the face and a clearer pic of the main models. When I get more time, Ill upload the raw render from ZBrush and the Photoshop postwork layers.

nice work i really love the detailing part on the cloth.please share your process detailing on the cloths
Thanks Madhead! If I remember correctly, the black cloth detail was done using a linen texture that was applied to the weave brush. I just brushed the texture along the flow of the robes. I filled it with about an 85%-90% black then I used the cavity mask to mask off the recesses and paint in a lighter black with some lighter threads peaking through here and there. The detail in the white part of the robes were done using the weave brush again with the “Alpha 58” preset alpha blurred a bit. Then to throw in a bit of imperfection to the threads, like they’ve been worn over many years, I added a bit of noise in the “Surface” tab and adjusted the curve to add little lumps all over, but spread out.
Wonderful! Top Row in my book!
Having some fun with the new Micromesh! This will be part of a full scene I’m putting together. (I know, the cornstalks are missing some corn ) This was just a quick test to figure out how the instancing worked.
Rendered straight from Zbrush with no postwork except for a few BPR filters.
Incredile thread… The MicroMesh is sure very useful!
Nice experiment. I haven’t played with it myself yet, so is there a way to introduce any variation into the corn? Can you assign meshes on a per polygon basis or do all polygons take the same mesh (I wonder if masking can be used if this is a render-time function)? If all polygons take the same mesh, maybe you could overlay several ground planes (or different shaped polygon grids underneath the actual ground plane), each with a different version of the corn to introduce some variation.
Bonecradle, The way I understood it from the documentation is that you can only assign one micromesh object per subtool so there’s no variation possible unless you use more than one subtool with micromeshes assigned. On the cornfield image, you are exactly right. I took the ground plane and used the insert brush and drew individual polys on top of it in rows which became the spot where the corn would be placed. I could add variations of the corn by adding another subtool with more individual polys then assigning a second variation of the cornstalk. It looks like that the rotation of the individual poly effects the rotation of the cornstalk, but looks like it never rotates much more than 45 degrees or so. So when I get around to finishing the scene, I’ll be adding other variations to the corn which will include differences in rotation among other things.
Ive tried micro mesh its pretty cool. Did u get the icrn of the corn to comeup on the insert brushes. I cant get the icon or the micro mesh to show up . how did u get just the corn to render and not the ground alslo?
jubala, I thought there was supposed to be a preview of what it will look like so you can gauge the size, orientation, etc, but I couldn’t get a preview to show. I think I was doing something wrong somewhere along the line. I had to test a few times to see what it would look like. And when the Micromesh renders, the subtool that it’s attached to disappears when rendering. So the polys that I had placed on the ground were not rendered since I had them as a separate subtool.
they just made zbrush4r2b classroom videos so that answered our questions
Couldn’t help myself. Now back to work…
Haha … Cool!
Too funny!
I should have seen that coming… The perfect use for fibermesh.
hahaha I was thinking of doing that but u beat me to it
ha ha I was expecting this.
Well done!!! Very convincing shader!
About the corn scene. Very nice, try to use some sss or at least wax shader. Reminds me a pixar/bugs scene.
Here’s part of a fairy model I’ve been toying around with on and off for a few months. Just testing out a few things on her.
Something strange about the eyebrows(don’t matche her hair color? Something besides that i think, they don’t look quite right), but apart from that very nice render. This is inside Z, with fiberbrush correct?
That troll is Classic! Hahaha… thanks for that, made me laugh. I’m enjoying all the new hair images…
The first convincing eyebrows I see under fibermesh! How?
Great work once again!
