i agree with it being top row. excellent work man!

5 stars from me

Holy cow!

Fish, this is incredible! I love the whole feel of the thing! I’m actually VERY impressed!

Well done mate.

5*

Thanks Elixir - Not sure I’m pushing the Z-Brush envelope nearly enough to warrant top row yet but one can dream!

Thanks Orgoneghost - I just checked out your personal website and have to say I’m very impressed! I just had the pleasure of playing Uncharted on my New PS3 and it was a great game to get me started on my new system! The graphics blew me away! especially the lush jungles and I just loved all the adventuring round the crumbling old architexture. You could see there was an enormous amount of time, talent and effort went into it and now I know who was responsible!
It was also very playable and had a really good plot full of great characters which put most big budget Hollywood movies to shame!

I’ve always been into games ever ever since my C64 through Amiga, Mega Drive, Playstation, PC etc and have loved Naughty Dogs stuff very much.

How did you get into it? It was always a dream of mine to get into games concept or movie concept work but it seems you have to have an understanding of technical stuff as well as artistic skillz which simply escape my meagre brain capacity! lol!

anyway thanls again.

Dustbin1UK - Cheers as always mate! and thanks for the canvas tip! I took your eraser advice and it worked out better!

Also that frees me up for my next project which we can work together on putting up a blow by blow account on your new site!

Any ideas? how d’you want to structure it and what content etc?

I think this could be a cool colaboration!

Keep on Z-ing!

hah nice. i like the last one the best.

as to your comment on videogames - i just kind of taught myself. i started off learning 3d art in my bedroom via online tutorials and late nights of no sleep. you dont really need to be all that tech savvy - if you have a good understand and grasp of art, mixed with a good understanding of 3d and 2d digital art (which it looks you have), you could basically learn all there is to learn about creating game art. the programming is all handeled but other people. making it ‘look pretty’ in game, is much like making personal 3d art, etc.

sorry if my advice isnt that great, im a bit under the weather with a cold and kinda cloudy with the medication ha.

p.s., glad you liked uncharted. unfortunately i only worked very early on in development of it - but the rest of the team definitely did an amazing job. theres so much talent at naughty dog and a great bunch of guys.

Wicked! Love the concepts you came up with! Bravo.
Cheers

Love the colors, fish especially the blue parts…and the detail on the skin (wrinkles, pores, etc) is great. I like poster #2 the best.

I love that alien! Awesome work! The feel, the angle, somehow you got the alien to look worried! Great stuff!

A collaboration eh?

Well let me think then I’ll PM you. I have a couple of ideas. But want to think them trough first. Hmmmmmm

Anyhow, keep going mate. This is amazing stuff.

Fish!!! Empty your PM box a bit matie! I can’t send you anything.

Well I promised a breakdown of what went into this rather rushed job so here goes! -

compshot1.jpg

Hope this is of some use to someone!?
The chossing of materials and colours and then the mixing of the layers and adding of little hand-drawn bits is obviously down to the individual and everyone would do that part differently and achieve a different result but I like the process, it’s another style of creating an image just like collage or watercolour or oils so it keeps me happy!

Keep on Z-ing!

I love this process, I am itching to try it out. Thanks for taking the time to show us this Fishadder.

fishadder,

Novel, unique, very different approach! I think your lack of experience is your greatest asset! Viva la difference! Your skill in both art and photoshop are readily apparent, and I really like the imagination that created these weird wonderful critters

very interesting approach, have you tryed to just paint a different color layer in zbrush and then another ontop and blending that way?

Thanks hyper1!

‘‘I think your lack of experience is your greatest asset! Viva la difference!’’

That line made me laugh out loud but it’s true!
I’m a bit weird like that in that i tend to learn enough of something to get by and then use it the same way forever! Which I didn’t want to do with Z-Brush as I finally found a way to do 3D images so I’m keen to learn it!
Must… Force… Myself… to… learn! lol!

Thanks rubent 100!

Well way back before I finally took the plunge and got Z-Brush 3 I played with the trial version of Z-Brush 2 until it ran out or crashed or whatever happened! and I actually got into painting models and it was a really nice thing to be able to rotate and paint a live 3D model so I was loving it!
Then I get Z3 and I forget all about the painting and somehow doing my Scared Silly entry with sooo many elements I just got into exporting and layering in Photoshop!
Bad Habit I know and I truly mean to learn to paint fully sculpted models because if you rotated any of my work you’d see it really only works from the one angle but hey! like I said to hyper1 this old dog gets too stuck in his ways so I must try to learn some new tricks!

Dustbin1UK

I’m off to the inlaws today so I will endevour to upload the alien process to your site soon!
Check your e-mail though I’m sending over Captain Q!!!

Keep on Z-ing!

Cool work fishadder! :+1: :sunglasses:

Interesting approach. In fact I use exactly same approach to render my own 3d still projects! It’s extremely fast this way, my recent Dragonite project render and my troll shadow hunter and night elf renders were rendered this way too and each took only one day to do giving complete render quality. You can extend this method with all sorts of matcaps layers and use masks i.e. for different subtools (or rims of armor) etc for different effects (with blend modes as well) in different areas of your model etc.

Got the Captain! Sent a response, very good, love it!

On another note:

I think it funny when people say, to achieve (A) you must do (X) (Y) (Z).

This is ART for heavens sake, art is the free expression of your ideas, through what ever means you have available to do it.

The results show it is not always in the following of a set process, but improvising with what you have.

Thanks Darukin!

Good to hear it works that way for you too!

Any tips on getting the best resolution and file size?
someday i might like to print something big.

Dustbin1UK

I think the captain is funny, hope he’s not too daft for whatever you were planning for the project!? but I had Red Dwarf and particularly Arnold Rimmer in mind with a bit of the Avengers and an old superhero thrown in coz I reckoned he had to have some clout to become Captain!
tell me more about this thing on which we have embarked?

And I agree about the free expression thing!
I once painted a portraite in oils with a stick and it’s one of the best things i ever did!
Brushes… Pah!

Keep on Z-Ing!
